I will start by saying that I made my reservation using booking.com and we have no idea how the reservation got canceled the day of my arrival it took me 2 hours to check in and I pass on the attitude of the check in hostess. the suites are ok the living space takes a big part of the room so the bed part is quite small. the AC in in the closet so if you want to sleep you need to turn it off otherwise is too loud, same problem with the big fridge in the room that is completely empty. the only other remark is that there's no turn down service which is a shame as its nice to go back to a clean and tidy room after a nice party. i suggest not to pay for breakfast but use the mall coffee corner in the hotel as the waitress is very nice and kind and it will cost half. valet is super expensive so be careful.
"We travel alot but this was something"
First this is our first stay at this hotel... for the price you pay I find it was not worth it ...here are some pros and cons Pros: Great location to bal harbour Beautiful lobby Big rooms Bell boys very nice Room service food is good ans generous portions Big fridge in the room Nice balcony Cons: Basic room with not pool/beach view is depressing and dark Rooms look like carpet has never been vaccumed Pillows are not comfy at all and the beds are not the best...probably some of the worst hotel beds I have slept in Bathrooms sinks are old and dirty Hair everywhere in the room / broken glass on the carpet Managers are rude and will come back to tell my story Kitchen closes at 10:30pm('''') 100$ fee per day for chairs and towels So hard to get a hold of housekeeping/room service Here is our story: We asked to be upgraded to a nice room ,we have a bahy sow anted quiet room. We came to the room at around 12am and went to bed ...everytime the A/C turned on this really loud noise u can hear in the room bc of it ... at 2:30am after finally giving up on trying to fall asleep with the loud noise I weny downstairs to ask to move rooms ; which they did by saying sorry we couldnt know...now moving with a 1year old who was also sick in the middle of the night is not easy as you can imagine. The manager on call siad sorry and moved our room... any other hotel would have offered something for the trouble they put us through... we moved to another room in which we remained for the rest of the stay where we had the same problem ... we ended up just not using the A/C in the night which you can imagine its not very pleasant and also not what you pay for. They never touched base with us to check up ok us ... all this to say that they should maybe re-think some things... we wouldnt stay here again. They dont want guests to come back I think! Well we probably won't unless something is rectified !
This hotel is in a great location in Surfside - very convenient to shops and restaurants, and on the beach. It is a nice size, not enormous like the brand-name ones a few blocks north in Bal Harbour. The lobby is very spacious with plenty of seating, a small bar, a breakfast restaurant, and a gelato/coffee counter that is open from early til late. There's a pretty landscaped area behind the hotel before you get to the beach. Our room was very comfortable with two beds, two baths and a sofa bed. There's an adults-only pool on the roof and a family pool on the ground floor. The housekeeping was good. Clientele was a mix of people from all over - Europeans, Americans, and Latin Americans - and families with little kids and big kids. The only improvement I would suggest is that that there should be more people working at the front desk. There always seemed to be a long wait for someone to be available. Also, be aware that there are actually three related properties that sound similar so you have to be careful about what you're looking at . . . this review is for the Grand Hotel Beach Surfside, which is on the beach side of Collins Ave. There's a sister property on the non-beach side of Collins Ave which doesn't have all the amenities of the beachside hotel. There's also the Grand Hotel Miami Beach which is further south in a whole different neighborhood.
"Great pick for girls weekend"
Went for New Years Eve with girlfriends. We wanted a hotel that was 1) less rowdy than South Beach 2) on the waterfront and 4) less than $1k per night for NYE. Hotels are plenty roomy for two people - request a single room with two bathrooms. Roof pool and bar are so spectacular that you don’t need a waterfront room. We had sushi at 26 Sushi & Tapas and Kosh, preferred Kosh’s maki. Great shopping, nail salons nearby.
"A room with...a bar'"
I decided to try the Grand Beach again because it is an great location and the property is beautiful. We had dinner at the restaurant, which was great, and the lobby is clean and inviting. The trouble started when we arrived on the 12th floor to go into our rooms and noticed we were given two rooms which are both adjacent to their rooftop bar. I'm writing this at 11:30pm while listening to people yelling in the hallways, slamming things about, and the smell of smoke wafting into the room. My children are tossing and turning, trying to ignore the fact their sort of sleeping...in a bar. I can't imagine how they thought to put guest rooms adjacent to a rooftop bar, along uncarpeted hallways. It is absurd! Elizabeth, the evening manager, was lovely and said she will find us alternative rooms tomorrow evening; I'm holding out hope this visit can turn around since as of now it is a disaster. I'll happily adjust this review if things turn around tomorrow but until then, I'll repeat what I said after our first visit - stay away!
