All things were fine. Nice location, good rooms, good breakfast, good service at the front. Nothing to claim about. The cannoli in the breakfast buffet was wonderful. You can fill the Ricotta to the "little tube" by your self!
"Was a luxury hotel in the past"
You can tell from the lobby of this hotel that it used to be a five star hotel some time in the past. Sadly, it is in huge need of restoration. The carpet in the hall had a huge old stain of God knows what close to our room. The elevators had velvet coverings that were falling apart on the edges. You will find similar disrepair everywhere you look. Very sad.
"Had a tough time with this rating"
This is a grand old hotel with a wonderful history. They do not have a concierge which is astonishing. The breakfast is good that we paid for extra, but no one checks your room number to see if you paid. The breakfast staff is good to get you seated and clear the table and even made me a cappuccino upon request. The carpet in the halls and our room is torn and stained. The bed linens and bath towels are top notch. Shower/tub is good water pressure and water hot. Internet is slow if you want to watch Netflix. So those are my pros and cons. I am never ambilivant about my reviews so I waited until my 6th day to post.
"A Princely Hotel"
I love hotels with history! A grand entrance takes you back to the late 19th century. The breakfast hall is equal to any palace banquet dining. The other public areas are just as impressive! Staff "Dalila" are very gracious and friendly. Rooms and bathroom are well appointed and comfortable except for an antique TV set. Maintenance and upkeep could be better. Stained hall carpeting, burnt light bulb and broken shaving mirror hinge in bathroom.
"Do not be fooled - Do not stay here "
This might have been a great hotel in its day but no longer. Yes it has some old worldly charm of a bygone era but the hotel is filthy. A very poor welcome when we arrived late in the night. The reception desk (one elderly gentleman in particular) were very unhelpful. No tours were suggested and when we asked tried to charge us 100 euros each until we asked for the list of activities which clearly stated 75 euros. We booked the trip and were supposed to be given an itinerary - it was never provided! The carpets throughout the hotel are FILTHY - you can see the track everyone has trod into them over the years. In the bedroom walking on the carpet in bare feet turns your feet black. We asked for two classic rooms - one was classic and the other one was much smaller and stuck in the corner of the hotel. My room had mould all up the wall in the bathroom and had a hole in the ceiling that the mould and chewed through. Breakfast - laughable - I've never had such a bad breakfast in a hotel that charges such a high nightly rate. The bar was never staffed you had to wait around like an idiot for the bar man to turn up who then had to disappear to make a cappuccino for you and reappeared with a bitter and cold cup of dishwater and charged you 4 euro for the privilege. We needed a late checkout and for the extra hours of 11-3 they charged us 40 euros for one room. Location is ok Chamber maids were very friendly and were the only shining light in this dismal and dirty hotel!!! This is a very honest reflection of the hotel. Over read the reviews of people who said it was excellent. I can only assume they are lying or have no concept of standards and must live in a hovel at home!!!
