"Pretty Good..however a smile costs nothing."
Stayed for 5 nights at the end of June. We stayed in a villa and it was very good, it was great to have a little extra privacy and the view was superb! Room was clean and offered everything we needed, including a Nespresso coffee machine with extra capsules provided daily. Great swimming pool, very clean. Beautiful gardens with stunning views in all directions and very peaceful and quiet. We were on a bed and breakfast room rate so can't comment on lunch or dinner. however it looked very expensive. One of the best aspects of this hotel was the breakfast, it was fantastic! So much choice, beautiful food and everything you could wish for + again Nespresso coffee machine, self service. Efficient service however didn't see a smile from any member of staff. Used the bar on a few occasions, efficient service, however , again never a smile. A quick note, if you are looking for Tapas and Sangria, go back to the main road, turn left and keep walking for around 10 mins. You'll come across a place called 'Meson Son Caliu' beside this restaurant is a little place called 'El Cafe', ask for Naiden, the best host in Majorca. Amazing Sangria and Spanish omelette and reasonably priced. Overall we did enjoy our visit to the hotel and we did relax as the hotel definitely has a chilled feel throughout, however we did feel that it was over priced. Will we return'' Yes,we probably will, fingers crossed for a smile next time.
"What a shame"
We really have loved this hotel, and have stayed there 6 times in the last couple of years. No longer our hotel of choice regrettably. The hotel is tired, as are the lacklustre staff, and in my opinion requires significant investment in both to get us back. We were booked for 9 nights but checked out after 5, as we had enough of poor service, and an hotel overrun with children. Understandably in July, but with no control over the inflatables in the pool or restricting children to one of the two pools. Fantastic grounds, great views and not as advertised as a "Boutique Hotel" only one good employee we came across on more than one occasion, Carlos the bell boy. Sorry H10, but you need to take a long look at the management and investment of the hotel, and sorry we won't be back.
We have stayed at the Punta Negra twice a year for the past two years, and this was our last visit. To say the hotel is tired is an understatment. Poorly maintained it's in need of some serious refurbishment. For the past 4 stays we have been in the same villa, it has never been maintained properly, and is shabby and neglected. The staff are clearly not interested, service is sporadic, and in a total of probably 6 visits to the hotel, we have never been welcomed back as repeat clients by reception. We couldn't tell you who the manager is as he definitely keep a low profile and in fact the only person who remembers us is the young man who takes the suitcases to the rooms. Always a smile and a welcome back from him - but he is lost in a sea of complacency and disinterest I'm afraid. How the Punta Negra can call itself a 'boutique hotel' is a toal mystery to me - it's huge, there is no attention to detail, no personal service, so beware if you think you are going to some cosy little haven. The biggest shame it that it's in a great location, it could be amazing, but unless it gets a serious makeover and the management gets a good shake up it is just going down a slow and painful road of neglect and complacency. This was our last stay, we gave it a good try but that's it I'm afraid.
"Expensive for what it was and not without issues..."
My sister and I went for a weekend and saw the inside of four rooms. First night in a room that should have had seaviews and didn't (unless you had x-ray vision); next morning shown a room with no balcony (which we'd also booked and paid for) then finally a nice room with both seaviews and a balcony. Sadly that night the hotel had decided to host a wedding reception for a couple of hundred people in the grounds just below our room. It didn't start until about 10 and so with pyjamas and sponge bag in hand, we moved again. Grotty room which smelt damp but at least far enough away from the party that there was a chance for some sleep. No idea how the other guests any closer would have had any sleep that night. And then at 845 in the morning, we were woken by housekeeping standing at the bottom of our beds basically saying get up, she needed to clean the room (check out infact being at midday). Twice more she came back in the next ten minutes so we packed up and went back to our nice room for the time we had left. So what with unemptied bins found in the first room when we checked in to giving us the wrong standard of room twice as well as awful housekeeping, I would say unless you want an expensive Faulty Tours experience, stay somewhere else. They did end up giving us one night free but still, it wasn't worth the hassle and agro of several calls and visits to reception. Unless you have to, don't.
very very picky. so bathroom door paint chipped at the bottom, not enough drawers in the bedroom and be careful of some slightly raised stones on the footpaths....errr so thats my criticism. not cheap but if can afford it easily, go and if you cant easily afford it, still go. This hotel is the modern elegant. To sum up, the after dinner brandy we ordered, the bar man warmed the glasses with hot water (briefly) poured in the brandy and served on a saucer with a napkin over....perfect highly recommended - generally you get what pay for
