The H10 Rubicon Palace Hotel is in a small village in Playa Blanca in south Lanzarote. It is just 35km from the airport, and 40km from the exciting city of Arrecife.
"change hotel's if possible"
where to start, I had e-mailed hotel to ask for room close to everything as was recovering from major surgery, the room 6059 couldn't have been any further away if they'd tried, first lie they said hotel was full, close to our departure date rep said it was only 50%, 2nd lie a e-mail to the hotel 5 weeks previous they told me the renovation's would almost certainly be complete! what a joke, looking at previous reviews I think it's a tale of 2 halves, one side of the hotel where one of our party of 8 were staying was complete our side the renovations were far from, our room faced the cinema, and for the last 6 days of our 11 the noise was deafening, the angle grinders drilling and hammering made it impossible to have the door open never mind sit on the balcony, also lots of privelege blocks being done up around us, how people sat by these pools in our area is beyond me, also noise around main pool coming from the privelege blocks leading onto sea front altho' not quite so bad, the area around the pool which has just been completed with beautiful tiles - in places is very dirty, we had the same area every day and it was never cleaned, just the main area's outside pool bar and leading into main block were jet washed, the entertainment of an evening was by far the worst we have ever came accross in an all-inclusive, the highlight being il divo, the rest was quite bad, on a plus note we enjoyed all the food, plenty of choice in all restaurant's and the italian was my favourite, the lasagne was to die for, all the staff very helpful and pleasant at all times, mike's coffee bar deserves a special mention for the milk shake's brilliant, hotel on sea front and is quite a walk into playa blanca so we got taxi's with me recovering from surgery only 4 euro's, friends we went with was their 3rd visit and they think it was better before when you could help yourself to drinks as it's very busy and the staff do their best to serve you as quickly as possible but at busy times it can be a while, also they only fill the teapot's half full with hot water which defeats the object as you have to get another! I don't quite know how the hotel has been awarded the 5* rating just yet as it's a long way from being finished yet. we spoke to a couple who had been going for 10 years and they said it would be their last, such a shame as where renovations are completed it is beautiful, the piano bar and reception area especially.
"Could be cleaner "
We have only been here one day so far. It was easy to check in no queue at all. Afterwards the porter took us on a round trip of all the rooms as he could not find ours. When we eventually got there it was filthy and had no view and was tiny. After paying a lot for this trip have to say had better elsewhere for similar or less price. Not a 5 star to me. We did get moved to a better room but I have to say the balcony looks like it hasn't been cleaned for several years ! The maid came in today made it tidy but again the floor is filthy and hasn't been mopped. The swimming areas don't look clean or mopped. Tiles are missing on the swimming pool floor which then look dirty. Kids pool is nice my daughter had a lot of fun in there. Food is actually really nice and that area all looks clean. Quite a lot of choice. Waiters are very friendly. Coffee is a let down it should be self service and I would prefer more than one cup a day. It was hard to get more than one drink at lunch and dinner as well. I think they should offer a pot of hot drinks. Mikes coffee bar do have lovely smoothies. Overall cleanliness completely lets it down. Apart from that it would be really nice here. Building work hasn't bothered us at all as we haven't heard any noise.
"Not quite 5*"
We have just returned from a weeks holiday at H10Rubicon Palace. As we got off the coach we were meet by a porter who quickly took our cases into the hotel, as we entered it was definitely a wow factor and made me feel quite positive. Having up graded to Privilege we were taken over to Laura who checked us in and explained everything we needed to know, we also received a welcome drink. Our room was on the 7th floor with sea view which is what we had requested, but on entering the room I was disappointed as it hadn't been refurbished as we were expecting, I did go back down to Laura and she said we could change room but it would be over near the children's pool and wouldn't have a full sea view, so we decided to stay put. There was also a lot more work going on than we had been informed about, quite a number of rooms are being refurbished but when they are all complete it will look amazing, we did find it abit annoying with the drilling and hammering which sometimes stated before 8am. We couldn't use the smaller pools as that was the area where the work was being done. There is also a lot of external painting going on and think this work will go on for a while yet. Well after all of my moans we did enjoy the holiday and the staff are great always ready to help. Being a Privilege customer we could use El Volcan restaurant were Iker made us feel very welcome and the food and restaurant were good. We went into La Dolce Vita for an evening meal and also some lunch times, again a very warm welcome from the staff and lovely food. All the restaurants are open now and we ate a couple of times in the Janubio this has been refurbished and is very good and so was the food with plenty of choice. Mikes coffee shop is lovely, plenty of choice of teas, coffees, shakes and smoothies went in every day for coffee, the staff again are very nice. The piano bar is very nice to relax in before and after a meal, All in all lovely staff, food and drinks and when the hotel is complete and all the work men have gone it will be great. Will definitely recommend and we will come again once verything is complete.
"Our Honeymoon at H10 Rubicon Palace"
In spite of the works taking this hotel from a four star to a five star hotel nearing completion during our stay, we were unaffected by the disruptions due to the large spaces within the hotel grounds. The staff were excellent, friendly and worked hard. The rooms were lovely, food good and the facilities were great. We went Bed Breakfast and Evening meal because it was a mere a small monetary difference instead of just Bed and breakfast. We like to get dressed up in the evening and go out for a meal so it was a nice surprise when the hotel allowed us to swap the evening meal for dinner when we wanted to. When we did stay in the grounds for the evening meals, we were treated to lovely meals in the themed restaurants. One Asian one Italian and a Steak house. The hotel also put on a gala night with entertainment, five course meal and free wine. We booked with Jet2 and found the heck out service great. The hotel teamed up with the airline to offer back check in at the hotel. When we were coming home, we brought our cases to the Rep who checked the bags in and gave us our boarding passes right there. We didn't see the cases again then till be got if the plane in Manchester.... really great service! We would recommend this hotel for couples and families alike. We will definitely go back. 5 Star experience
"Lovely hotel with friendly staff"
I have been to this hotel 3 times and I would like to return if the price is right, I like it because there are different restaurants my mobility is getting worse I feel familiar here. I was here in January and one of the waiters seemed to remember us, my mum had left her magnifying glass in the Italian restaurant his name was Bruno. There is still work being done it will look lovely once completed I'd recommend this hotel a tip is to ask for a room on reception level we have been in 6042 and 6006 think the 1st time it was 6018. The rooms have been recently refurbished I'm struggling to get into the bath 6006 an 6042 have walk in showers. 1 thing could maybe do with is a rail in the shower, there were more drawers and coat hangers this time you need to be 6 ft to reach them. Anyway great hotel is would like to return.
