"AVOID at all costs"
I really don't like leaving bad reviews and always try and find a positive when I leave comments on here about my stays or in this case non stay. This is the only advise you need for this chain of hotel. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID. I work in the entertainment industry and check into hotels late all the time, and on this occasion it was 1am. I use a brilliant travel agent who always lets each hotel know my arrival time and gives them my payment details to hold the room/s. So I arrive in reception and sign in and get my key. I have a conversation with the night staff and then head to my room. Now this is a situation I never want to be in again, but since this has happened and speaking to other tour managers this chain has done this before. I let myself into the room and noticed the room was very hot, as I opened the door wider and walked into the room, there were clothes on the back of a chair and on the floor and to my amazement a guy sleeping on the bed! My bed! Wow! I pause for a sec and realise I need to get out of there. I went to reception and explained and the guy turned white. He then explains the hotel is full and I don't have a room! WTF! Now try finding a hotel that late at night and knowing I've only got 6 hours until I have to be up again, was pretty stressful. The only solution was to stay at their sister hotel, well hostel in my opinion, which was a 20 minute drive away! Bearing in mind I had been on the road since 9am that morning, this was the last thing I needed, and this was going to cause me to lose precious sleep. I had advanced booked this hotel again two nights after this had happened and I gave the hotel plenty of time to reply and and say sorry, but all they offered was a drinks voucher! Unbelievable! I will be checking in at 1am THE BAR WILL BE CLOSED! After all that stress and a massive mess up on there part a drinks voucher! I can't believe you think that this is adequate compensation for what you put me through! The holiday inn's give these complimentary when you check in as a gold member! Hallmark hotels need to be striped 2 of its stars! This is nowhere near a 4 star hotel! I will be making it my mission to let colleagues, travel agents and other touring shows to stay the hell away from this chain! Hallmark hotels win the worst chain of hotels in the country. This has to be the worst customer service I've ever came across in my life. If you send me any questions regarding this hotel, you will not get response as I don't want to waste anymore of my time thinking about them.
"Dire....avoid spa break"
Probably easier to copy my complaint which went unanswered for several days.....we got a 50% refund but in no way compensated for the dire weekend: We recently stayed at the hotel having booked 2 double rooms for the luxury spa break. We were told that we would be contacted in relation to our treatments but we weren't. We tried to call on several occasions but there appeared to be a fault on the line or no-one available to take the call . By the time we eventually got through there was very limited availability and we couldn't get treatments until Sunday as we were leaving. The problems do not end there I'm afraid. On arrival we were told our room wasn't ready and that even though check in was 3pm, it would probably be later as staff hadn't turned in for their shift; unprofessional to say the least. And from my recollection check in is in fact 2pm. We then asked what the package included but he didn't know. We asked about the lunch and again he didn't know and just said ask the staff in there. We made our way to lunch but again, staff didn't know and told us to order what we wanted. It would appear none of the staff were wearing their own name badges either. Having had lunch and returned to check in, the receptionist then told us that the steam room and the jacuzzi were out of service. Given the fact we had booked a luxury spa break, maybe someone should have informed us that the spa facilities were not fully functional or at least have offered some recompense. Luxury spa it was not. It seemed pointless just going for a swim, we can do that at the local leisure centre. Nothing about the break was luxurious. The room was comfortable enough but the noise levels were horrific; the noise from the aeroplanes were bad enough, but you could hear every door open and my neighbours every time they moved. Also the tvs were poorly fitted; mounted on an ugly looking board which hadn't even been painted! We ordered breakfast to the room which arrived cold. The fried egg had solidified, the Hash browns were rubbery and the mushrooms tasted tinned. We left most of the breakfast. Check out was farcical the lunch had been charged to our room and although we mentioned the problems encountered we were only offered an apology which was appreciated but insufficient. On a positive note, Lewis and Sam were an asset to the hotel; very helpful and friendly.
"Great package deal"
We were going on holiday and flying from Manchester airport and needed a hotel for the night before due to an early start. We decided to book parking for the week and premium lounge at the airport as a package with the hotel room. All this cost only £156 for the 2 of us which we thought was great value. We arrived before the check in time but they still checked us into our room. We decided to use the complimentary spa facilities which weren't bad but not outstanding. We didn't use the gym but it didn't appear to have a huge amount of equipment. We chose not to eat in the restaurant as the menu was fairly small and we fancied something else. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. We did have a minor issue with the taxi to the airport but the hotel resolved the problem quickly (if you have a taxi to the airport make sure they know it's prepaid rather than cash). Overall I would recommend this hotel. We would definitely stay there again

"Not a good start to the holiday!"
Stayed here one night before flying from Manchester Airport as advertised as 1.7 miles from the airport -not so. It took the taxi 25mins to get there from the airport and charged us £25.. We ordered an early morning call for 5am at reception and ordered a taxi for the morning at 5.30am. Taxi arrived but did not have morning call fortunately a friend staying rang to say the taxi was waiting and we were still sleeping! Nearly missed our flight. Morning taxi only charged £9! No apology from reception when we confronted them asking what about our early morning call.
