"Bar lounge "
Excellent service from Dan at the hotel bar lounge. Would highly recommend to all airport bound overnight stays. Great drinks and food friendly but also prestigious feel ambience. Dan was very attentive to us and other guests in the lounge 5* all around
"The stars are for the staff!"
We stayed at this hotel on "Girls night in package" A party of 10 which included spa treatment and 3 course meal. On arrival we had to pass clouds of smoke from people standing outside reception area smoking. Not the best first impression. The check in process was quick and friendly. Rooms available prior to 3pm check in which was good. The hotel was exceptionally busy with a conference and the hotel was heavily under staffed. We went to the bar to get a snack before our spa treatments. Lewis in the bar was run off his feet. He did this with a smile on his face. I advised reception of this and they sent somebody to assist. The food was poor quality and disappointing. The bedroom had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and needed a good clean. Bathroom small. On a positive the bed was comfortable. We then went to the spa greeted by Luke who was helpful. There was a notice to say the changing room was due to be refurbished. They were a health hazard dirty mould in the lockers. In my opinion this shouldn't be sold as a spa day in these conditions. The beauty therapists tried but it really wasn't good enough. My treatment was meant to be 25 minutes. My treatment wasn't that length and the therapist admitted that they had to reduce treatment time due to tight schedules. Avoid the spa at all cost until refurbishment. The staff nice but facilities fall far below what is acceptable. We went to the restaurant for our meal Steph and Beth tried their best but we had to wait nearly an hour for our starters. Once it was pointed out we had our mains much quicker. We had to leave the desert as we had taxis booked to go out. Steph and Beth were very apologetic and a credit to the hotel. On our return to the hotel the night porter was dealing with arguing residents. Very little sleep due to noise of other residents. Jack on John very helpful and reassuring regarding behaviour of guests. The staff at this hotel are a credit to the management team. In extremely difficult circumstances they tried to deliver good customer service. They really should be better supported!!!
"Would recommend & fab staff "
I am a gym member at the hallmark, it's a great gym and pool and the staff are lovely especially luke who has been more than helpful. I would recommend to anyone who wants to join a great friendly gym.
"Avoid the spa experience day, very dissatisfied"
This was intended to be a special day for friends to catch up and be pampered but was far from it. We bought the spa experience for 4 with one treatment, use of the spa facilities and afternoon tea with prosecco. My friend tried multiple times to contact the venue to book but was unable to get through so livingsocial had to intervene. We were unable to get the treatments on the day we booked so forfeited them. The £10 Saturday supplement was waived but we weren't offered a discount. The spa changing area was dirty and run down. One of the toilets was leaking onto the floor, the wash basin was coming off the wall and there was peeling paint. The wet spa area itself was lovely but we had limited time there because we had to dress to go for afternoon tea in the restaurant in the main hotel. In the restaurant they were obviously short staffed. The man taking orders and preparing drinks was literally running around and did his best to help. We waited a long time to place our order and for the food to arrive, which limited our time in the spa. We were given the wrong vouchers by the reception staff at the spa, so were initially not given the glass of prosecco and asked for proof. We explained that the reception staff at the spa had seen our voucher and to verify with him by phone as my friends phone was in the changing rooms but as he didn't have time he just gave us the drinks. We were then told that we didn't get hot drinks as well with our afternoon tea and had to argue the point that this was usually standard to get tea with afternoon tea. We were then given tea and coffee. We ordered two vegetarian afternoon teas and were given fish. We pointed out the mistake and were given replacement sandwiches. We were not given one of each cake each and had to complain again but the wrong cakes were brought. We left feeling like we had very poor service and had to argue and complain which was stressful for us and for the obviously very overworked staff. Very poor standard from Hallmark hotels. Jo
"Avoid if you want a decent night's rest!"
We arrived on a Friday evening and were put in two rooms on the fourth floor. As you'd expect from guests staying at an airport hotel, we had to be up early for a 7am flight. There was a function on downstairs and the music went on until 1am. I could hear every single lyric, which is pretty impressive given how high up in the hotel we were and that I suffer from partial deafness. Other than this, the plumbing in the bathroom was extremely noisy. The toilet would randomly start gurgling really loudly in the middle of the night. I mentioned both these issues upon checking out at 4am the next morning. Needless to say the staff member on reception (John, I think') wasn't in the slightest bit apologetic. He said "well all hotels have to hold parties, it's how they make their money". I did point out that most people stay in them in order to get a good night's sleep before a flight. Sadly the Hallmark didn't fit the bill in that respect. On a positive note, it is only a 10-minute drive to the airport and the rooms were clean.
