"Dance Convention in Baltimore"
The Hilton in Baltimore is a Catwalk away from the Baltimore convention center. Also, the beds aren't as comfortable as the Hampton Inns or Marriotts, however, the professionalism of the staff makes up for it.
"Three strikes...yer out!"
I'll start by confirming the Hilton is an upscale property and much about the property is that. The amenities, fixtures, and general cleanliness were all up to par. However... 1. I waited in line to check in, got my key from the highly disinterested front desk person, got all the way up to the 14th floor, opened the door to my room...and it was not cleaned. Or more accurately, it looked like it had been abandoned mid-clean. Bundles of dirty sheets on the dresser, beds with untucked sheets, toilet seat up... so I went back down, waited in line again, and got a new room key from the same front desk person who surprisingly hadn't nodded off yet. Okay, no biggie...whatever. 2. Got into the new room, had a few minutes to unpack before I headed down to work at the trade show, tried to switch on the TV....nope. Remote control is cold, stone dead. Called down for a new one but couldn't wait around for it to arrive. However I notified the concierge on my way to the convention center and it was replaced in the evening when I returned. 3. Long day of work and travel. Time for a nice hot shower before bed, *Sigh* Although the sink water's hot tap is scalding, the shower simply won't get hot. Not even a little. The next morning I ran it for about 10 minutes and it got tepid. That was the warmest it was the whole three nights of my stay. Could I have called' Sure, but here's the thing...I'm working. I don't have time for maintenance call and I don't want maintenance in my room when I'm out. So I took very short showers. Did I say three strikes' Hold my beer... 4. The second evening I was there I got back to the hotel from a meet and greet at around 8 p.m. and was exhausted - so I ordered a sandwich from room service. I wasn't thrilled with the hour wait I was quoted, but was too tired to do anything else. I will say it arrived in a mere 45 minutes. My guess is it takes that long for the sandwich and fries to sit around so they can can serve it absolutely cold. Here's the deal...one thing, even two things go wrong, I can let it pass. But the stockpile of disappointments is not what I expect from an upscale hotel.
When I was here for the same show 2 years ago, I arrived at midnight from CA. My room had been reserved months earlier. I ended up sleeping down the street because they had given my room to someone already. This time, I got my reserved room after a bit of a wait. The salesman I work with had a worse go of it. His room was not available until after we got back from dinner. Then his toilet stopped flushing / clogged the next day, and was still not fixed two days later. The staff in the lobby are pleasant, but move very slow. I just don’t see how this location can be like this, and be called a Hilton.
great, friendly and clean environment. Perfect location. The elevators and so convenient and quick. Room was kept very clean. only suggestion is newer bedding material. Perfect area for downtown Baltimore!
"Not up to par"
My recent stay with Hilton was not up to par with the product I am used to. The good: 2nd room was clean and comfortable Amenities in room are optimal and predictable Hilton honors app allowed me to fix issues remotely while at my conference The bad: Check in gentleman was overwhelmed and uniformed No area for Honors members Lobby and general areas were freezing cold at all times The coffee shop in the lobby employees some terribly rude people ( this may not be a Hilton Issue) It was adequate, I had a room issue, it was eventually resolved. The 16th floor was very noisy - possibly due to overhead construction. My expectations were not terribly high but that shouldn’t be case. Hilton is starting to lack quality which may cause me to find a new hotel establishment for my business needs. Second guessing my upcoming stay at the Hilton Garden Inn @ FLL.
