Excellent hotel in brilliant location with friendly and attentive staff although food service in evenings is expensive. Location set on lovely sheltered cove is probably with very few equals -- 5 starComment of M. Darrell , United Kingdom the 2015-04-08
"A place that you would love to comeback!!!"
We stayed here for an entire week. The location, bars and restaurant make this place a great family destination. I would say this, they need some improvement when it comes on delivering the food on a better timely basis. The employees make you feel like you are at home. I would share this, renovations are needed in this location, from paint in the outside to a Curaçao signature in the premises (rooms, restaurant area and lobby area). Other than that, it was very clean all the time, the beach was amazing, very kids friendly, employees were great and helpful.
"With a Bit of Attention This Hotel Could Be So Much Better"
This review is partly from the perspective of Hilton Honors gold membership. Let's get the negative comments out of the way first: Although we were thanked for our loyalty and given 2 bottles of water, no other perks of gold membership were offered, ie no room upgrade (the hotel seemed pretty busy so fair enough) but also we should have been offered breakfast in the main dining room and were not. We stayed in 2 ocean view king bed executive rooms on the 5th floor, my husband and me in one and our daughter and son-in-law in the other. Air conditioning in our room (517) was adequate but less so in the other room (513). Although the decor of the room was fine, the furniture is looking very tired (chipped and worn). As many other reviewers have commented the hall carpets need replacing or at the very least a deep clean. Service in the Captain Bligh bar and Celeste beach bar and grill was slow and at least on one occasion so slow they gave us a free round of drinks as an apology. The breakfast in the Executive lounge was basic and the evening snacks even more disappointing. The building is showing its age, it was built in the 60's and reflects the architecture of that period. The concrete facade above the lift shaft was crumbling a bit and although I don't think it was at the point of being unsafe, the appearance is not pleasant. Outside furniture (beach and pool sun loungers could have been more comfortable, no cushions provided) and many of the pool sun loungers were spotted with bird guano. Now for the positive comments: Ariatne and Desiree in the Executive Lounge were absolutely charming, welcoming, efficient and helpful. I hope the manager appreciates them, they are an asset to the hotel. We arrived on a Saturday and got to use the Executive Lounge for only 2 days when we were told it would be closed for the week for refurbishment. This actually worked to our advantage as we were given access to the full breakfast buffet in the Aqua Restaurant, a 50% discount on alcoholic drinks during happy hour and the cost of any soft drinks and evening snacks consumed at the bar were deducted from our bill at check out. We were also supposed to have water delivered to our rooms but that never happened. However, if we asked at reception, the bottles of water were handed over. The highlights of the hotel are the beach and the pool. The beach is lovely and sandy with sufficient sun loungers and thatched umbrellas to give shade. There are many different types of fish to be seen while swimming or snorkeling in the sea just off the beach. There is a dive shop where you can rent snorkeling gear, kayaks and arrange snorkeling or dive tours and courses. The pool is lovely and very warm with shallower areas for young children. It is kept very clean too. My only criticism is the shower can only be accessed from one side of the pool so you had to walk all the way around and past the beach bar to get to it from the area where most of the sun loungers were. A very nice gesture was that both my daughter and son-in-law were celebrating a belated change of decade birthday, we told the hotel this and when they got to their room there were balloons and a banner on the door and 2 slices of cake and balloons on their bed. Much appreciated. I wish I could have given a better review because I do like this hotel with its 60's vibe. The grounds are nice, water activities are provided for well, the staff are in the main welcoming and helpful, the views from the rooms facing the sea are wonderful, location is good, a 10 minute drive to Willemstad (although taxis are not cheap for the distances covered). This was our second stay and should we return to Curacao we would not hesitate to stay here again in the hope that some of the issues I mention above will have been addressed. Just to mention, there is a restaurant, Pirate Bay about a 10 minute walk from the hotel if you fancy something different from the hotel restaurant food.
"Does not meet Hilton's expectations"
Old building, showing it's age on several places. Property is very well located and the beach good. Executive room with ocean view is enormous and the view is great, but equipment is old. Friendly staff but not so well trained, good breakfast. Defenately does not meet someone's Hilton expectations...
"I ❤️Curacoa "
Omg the title says it all. First off when i first got to the hotel i was a little taken Aback the property was subpar compared to other Hilton properties I've stayed at. And when i went to my room which i had to carry my bags no bell boy service coming and leaving i might add. I was highly disappointed. I reserved the island view however i was looking at the friggin parking lot. There where no chairs in my room nor on the balcony. Im like I'm suppose to stand up while a look at the view of the parking lot and how will i do my makeup standing up as well. I got in late about 11ish so I'm thinking they weren't expecting any check ins but that is no excuse its HILTON for goodness sake. The next morning i arose i got the executive room package breakfast was ok something to hold me before i get a real meal tea coffee toast boiled eggs cereal the essentials we sat out on the balcony of executive lounge and the view was breathtaking. Im like this is a view. After complaining from 7am in the morning i didn't get anywhere apparently the hotel doesnt have any bellboy service housekeeping maintenance personnel until about 830 which again i find very surprising for a top notch hotel brand like the Hilton. Finally i go to front desk and Decco was very kind he heard all of my complaints and offered to give me a corner room on the third floor it was still island view but i got partial ocean view. When i got to my room i was happy. Now i finally felt i came somewhere. The room was huge way bigger and we got chairs and all. I must say again the property need a serious renovation carpets are old Nd stained but clean and the infrastructure is dwindling. However im cool down to earth i didn't let that spoil my time. I can tell like back in the 70s this was a happening place but the really need an upgrade when u look at the mambo beach side it really put this place to shame. All that to say the Hilton Curacao hAs lots of potential it is truly a diamond in a ruff. The hotel grounds is beautiful and clean the beach is perfect clean no excessive seaweed or rocks. The pools amazing. I got some great pics by the infinity pool during sunset. I love the grounds of this hotel. There is another entrance to the beach on the side behind the pools which is pretty seclusive u can take a nice private stroll with ur lover truly tranquil. The Hilton beach bar is great staff is so friendly i forgot their names but they are awesome. The food at the beach bar is great too. My husband and i also got food at the restaurant Celio A plus i was very pleased. The Hilton slowly began to grow on me the area is cool at nights and not as congested with people as the mambo beach side. mambo beach has all the glitz and glam but the the Hilton is more vintage rustic is cool and layed back more my style. We always enjoyed going out And coming back to the peaceful calm side in piscesdera. The ladies at the executive lounge especially Ali she can tell you about anywhere and everywhere in Curacao she gave us a must to do list and we definitely found it to be helpful. FYI YOU DEFINITELY need a car unless you'll be spending lots of money on tours we had our own tours it was greAt discovering Curacao on our own. Unfortunately we couldn't go everywhere i planned but thats ok only excuse to come back which i will. Oh yeah the beach at the Hilton is great for snorkeling beautifully fish but every beach ive gone to in Curacao was good for snorkeling. Also the hotel is next door to pirates bay restaurant which is parallel to Hilton you can literally walk there. On sunday nights they have regaee night happy hour cool place. Unfortunately when we went there to eat the food wasn't up to our standards the fish soup was very salty and they had no rice so we left. But if your ok with fries Nd burgers thats the place for you i find it to be a spot to get a quick bite after a hangover hence the soup being so salty. the waiter kept asking us if we want shots like dude its 10 am in the morning Lastly Big Up Sandra at the spa in the hiltons beautiful lady . She massaged my whole body head to toe she was great spend a good amount of time on eAch section very relaxing i love her i love Curacao And I love the Hilton. The Hilton needs upgrade and renovations badly but i don't go on vacation to stay in my room so if you cAn bypass that you will truly hAve an aMazing peaceful surreal experience.
Room not clean. One hour to wait for check in. All metal parts in the room were rusted. Lot of insects in the room. Only the price was according to Hilton Standard... The beach bar and the beach are very nice
