"Mouldy, flooded bathroom. Filthy carpets"
Initial impressions are good but the reality is disappointing. Worst hotel we stayed in while in China. Our bathroom has a nice rainforest shower head but the sign above the toilet "slippery when wet" should have been a warning. As soon as the shower was used it flooded that whole bathroom and never drained away. As a result we were stepping in half an inch of water whenever we used the bathroom and there was black mould everywhere. The damp had seeped through the wall to the bedroom where the wallpaper was stained and warped. We also found out why we needed the complimentary slippers - I doubt the carpet had ever seen a vacuum cleaner. The breakfast was cheap but not cheerful; eggs and toast was about all that was worth eating; warm "juice", indescribable coffee were definitely memorable for all the wrong reasons. Luggage storage is piling bags in the lobby and throwing a net over them, make sure smaller bags are hidden in the middle of the pile.
"Decent place to stay"
This hotel was fine. It was located a bit far from things but the streets are laid out in a grid so we pretty quickly figured out how to get places. The hotel itself was nice though we had some issues with changing temperature in the rooms. Throughout all the hotels we stayed in while in China, we always had issues with the shower leaking. This was one of the worse ones where the door had not stopped under it and the water from the shower just covered the bathroom in a layer of water, so if that is going to bother you, might be worth skipping.
"Good hotel, close to a bar!"
Stayed in this hotel for just the one night. It was situated within the city walls and just over the road from a really cool bar which has a huge selection of beers from around the world. The hotel was nice, the rooms were a really good size with really comfortable beds. Rooms have a tv and a desk, no fridge. The bathroom was also a good size with a lovely shower and all the complimentary toiletries you would need. Towels were also provided. One annoying thing was that bathroom wall was glass so you could see straight through into the bedroom, which is fine if you're comfortable with the person but its not for everyone. I never had the breakfast but my roommate did and he wasn't impressed, it was 40 yuan I think (maybe 30) but apparently it wasn't nice at all.
"nice enough hotel"
This hotel is in an excellent location. It is close to public transit, the Muslim quarter and is inside city walls. There is a coffee shop not far and several restaurants nearby. The Muslim quarter is just around the corner as well. The wifi is free and it works, despite the Great Firewall of China. Beds are hard, but you'll be thankful they're stationary and a lot more comfortable than the hard sleeper train you just got off of while on your G Adventure tour. Lobby restaurant is good enough for breakfast.
"the most outlets i have ever seen in a hotel"
Finally we can charge all of our electronics! Hotel is within city walls, close walk to Muslim quarter. Clean, large rooms and quiet. Breakfast buffet is ok and convenient. We were in a group and took cabs and none of the cab drivers could find it!
