"Beautiful hotel in Hvar"
Our room was extremely spacious and comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided. Breakfast was buffet style and very good. There were sun loungers available at the pool that were free of charge or there were various areas down at the beach with sun loungers to hire. The walk into Hvar town takes about 5 minutes and is an easy walk. We would highly recommend this lovely hotel.
We stayed in this hotel for a few nights in September as a family of three. The hotel has gorgeous views from the terrace and beautiful pools (however very cold) and we really enjoyed our time here. I made use of the gym on the top floor which also had a breathtaking view of hvar and the pekleni islands. The one thing I felt let the hotel down was the breakfast...just not that special at all for the price of the room. I feel that this should be improved upon to maintain its status. Room was great with freestanding bath and massive comfy bed. We will return on our ur next visit!! Kate
"ok but nothing special"
My wife and I stayed at his hotel in mid October 2017. This recently refurbished hotel is of a modern design comprising 345 rooms built over many levels facing south overlooking a delightful bay. We had the benefit of a sea view superior room which was a generous size with an ensuite comprising bath, shower cubicle, his and hers wash hand basins wc and walk in dressing area. There was ample hanging and shelved provision to allow for any length of stay all though some of the doors refused to close. The hotel has a very good swimming complex with infinitypool, waterfall and shoot into a splash pool all facing the bay, The immediate relaxation area has many sunbeds, umbrellas etcetra but they are packed, in some parts, extremely close together and would be camped in the peak season. Given the nature of the hotel's construction the hotel would not be ideal for guests wheel chair bound or with prams. The hotel is extremely well located being within a 10/12 mins. flat walk along the coast to the charming town of Hvar. We were on a half board basis and the breakfasts provided an extensive selection that one would expect of a quality hotel. The evening meal was a buffet with a good selection by way of the first course whilst the second provided a range of meat and seafood but unfortunately not necessarily of the best quality, and only luke warm and very salty. Most of the staff were pleasant and helpful and the hotel in general very clean. The beaches that we saw were pebbly with very little sand but the sea was crystal clear. If visiting the island in addition to the main town it is well worth climbing to the well restored fort were this is a pleasant café and stunning views. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and wine bars but beware being an island they are on the expensive side.
"Resort Hotel in Fabulous Location!"
We were a bit overwhelmed arriving at the Amfora with all the activity and size of the hotel. But we were so happy to receive an upgrade to a two bedroom/two bath sea view unit which generously accommodated us and our adult daughter. We even had a living room, refrigerator, coffee maker and three huge decks! The decks were so expansive that we saw both the sunrise and sunset! The immaculate bathrooms have heated floors which make everything warm and cozy! Amenities are first class. Breakfast is served buffet style in a spacious airy room overlooking the Adriatic. The selections are simply fabulous and plentiful! They even have a tea making station, dried nuts and fruits, cheeses, whole grain breads, homemade yogurt, salads, fruit, coffees, meats, eggs, everything you can imagine! It is an easy walk from the Amfora into town, restaurants and the ferry terminal and the hotel takes care of transporting your luggage from the ferry to the hotel and back. There is a large super clean pool with towels and lots of beach chairs with umbrellas. The path down to the sea and the coast walk enters right into the property adding to the ideal location. If you are looking for a full seaside resort which is both lively and quiet, you will enjoy the Amfora.
"Don't stay here"
I felt really let down by the Amfora - after staying in an air bnb in Split we were looking forward to having some luxury in a hotel for two nights. We were booked into a standard room (which took us about 15 minutes to find as the hotel is SO big, has no room number signs and there are literally no staff anywhere to help). When we entered the room it was absolutely tiny and really run down. The lights didn't work properly, the room smelt weird (dusty) and the carpets just needed a good scrub. Considering we were paying £250 a night for this, it is not good enough. The whole experience was topped off by us returning at 12am one night and finding a young couple getting down and dirty in the hotel grounds (presumably from one of the bars close to the Amfora - which does make you question security and who they are allowing in and out). The only positive I can take from the Amfora was the pool area, which to be honest you could sneak in and out of as no one seems to check if you're staying in the hotel anyway! Wouldn't return and I wish I had read reviews before booking and spending almost £500 on a terrible experience!
