"Appalling eating options for a five star resort."
I am staying in the Premium apartments at the Denia La Sella Golf Resort and Spa. We decided that, this evening, we would like to eat at one of the three advertised restaurants at the resort. Our first choice was to eat in the resort's Thai restaurant, as we had heard good reports about it. Unfortunately, the Thai restaurant is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, at thi time of year. It then transpires that the only eating option at this, supposedly, five star establishment is the main restaurant. However, when we arrive there, we are told that the only dining option available is a self-service buffet. This is a Sunday evening, at eight o'clock, when there are not too many alternatives available. To make matters much worse, as soon as we are shown to our table, a group of sixty Finnish senior golfers arrive to have dinner, using the same buffet. We had to wait forty five minutes between our first and second courses, while the entire Finnish golf group swarmed around the buffet and queued for their main courses to be cooked. Having eaten a pretty average self-service buffet, we were charged Euros 27.50 per head for the privilege. Firstly, it is outrageous that a five star hotel, advertising three different restaurants, only offers a cold buffet with self service grill options. Secondly, when we complained to the hotel reception, we were told that we could have opted for the menu del dis option, though this was not offered us when we arrived in the restaurant. Thirdly, I do understand that this is a golf resort and that they need to cater for groups of golfers to make their money during the winter months. But, to swamp the only restaurant in service with such a large number of one group, shows an incredible disregard for the interests of other guests. I will not only not return to this resort, I will note using ANY of their facilities during the remainder of my stay. I am filled with trepidation regarding how they are going to manage the playing activities of such a large group of Finnish golfers during the coming week. The last time that I played behind a group of Scandinavian golfers in Spain was last year, at Val d'Este and they took four and a half hours to complete nine holes. This could be a very long week !!!!
"Good option for a golf weekend in Xabia/Denia"
Luxury resort wit reasonable fares and a very nice 27 holes golf court. Nice facilities for kids, very good breakfast buffet. Nice pool area with bar aside. At least in octobre most visitors were foreigners, playing golf is unusual to meet spanish players.
My husband and I loved staying here for our 8 night holiday in early September. Our room was perfect with a big and comfortable bed. The room was serviced everyday and the toiletries were replaced daily too! When we arrived we were informed they were changing over to their Autumn hours (which felt weird in 30 degrees heat!). We did find the hotel slightly 'corporate' towards the end of the holiday - when we arrived there was a holiday feel to the hotel but towards the later half of the week, and because of a big conference the hotel was hosting (and the fact that it was 'autumn'!) we did feel it was less holiday-y! This wouldn't stop us going back and it didn't ruin anything, just worth a mention! We would maybe stay a week earlier if we stayed again. We ate in the restaurant twice and it was really good. The service was great (we got good service in the whole hotel - the staff are brilliant!) and the food was yummy. More expensive than if you drive out to a restaurant but you pay for the convenience and the attentive service! Overall we loved it and would stay again! Thanks La Sella! :)
If you are looking for a relaxed hotel with great facilities, friendly helpful staff with all that you might need in one place this is well worth considering. The beds are generous in size, very comfortable and although we didn't stay in the room much I can't think of anything we missed . Be careful of the bath when standing for a shower, very narrow with rounded edges makes for an easy trip hazard. The golf course is testing for high handicappers, tight and long but fair. The greens were in good nick too! It is 'walkable' too but having played 3 rounds on the bounce was glad I took the buggy!
"Relaxing and comfortable"
Super comfortable rooms with oversized, single beds, nice linen and clean, spacious bathrooms. All in all a very nice place to stay. Food excellent too. Drinks a little pricey but the you are in a five star hotel so this is to be expected. Generally helpful staff, especially the assistant manager who goes out of her way to make sure you will have the best possible experience not only in the hotel but in the area itself. Hotel is a little isolated with not much else close by but if you want to just chill or play golf it's great. Make sure you pay for pool or golf view, it's worth the extra cost.
