Hotel has been completely renovated, except the top outdoor pool and patio, due to be finished in a few weeks. Bedding was new. Bathroom was updated with all new fixtures. I highly recommend this hotel. Arriving by train from Rome, the central train station is a few minutes walk to the hotel making it very convenient. Hotel is located next to the Santa Maria Novella and a very nice open park that is great for walking and sitting during the day and late afternoon. Close to several restaurants. Walking to various sites is fairly easy.
"Great stay at the Grand Hotel Minerva"
This hotel does not disappoint. Stayed here for the second time to Florence. This time a pleasure trip of four couples. Great location near train station, walking to all points of interest easy. Hotel breakfast wonderful and service fantastic. Also got excellent restaurant recommendations from the hotel staff, enjoyed our time in Florence and again at the Grand Hotel Minerva.
"Excellent - Amazing"
We just came to dine. The place and the service were amazing. The ratio /price/quality is just unbelivable. Ask for ricardo and you will be serve like prince and princess. An amazing place for an amazing hostel. Do not hesitate to stay there !
Wonderful rooms and wonderful staff. Rooms facing the Piazza all updated and very modern and chic; obviously with great views as well. Located right in the center of town, a short walk to the Duomo, the river or the train station and surrounded by excellent restaurants. Staff was more than accommodating and was up on everything going on around town. And don't miss the breakfast!! Or for that matter, having a drink at the roof top bar and pool to boot! You can drive to the front of the hotel located right on the Piazza, if you don't mind narrow winding streets to get there; they will valet the car for you at a very reasonable price and when needed, will be there in less than 15 minutes.
"Great location, nicely appointed, with good staff"
First, this hotel is within a few minutes' walk of Florence's central train station (Santa Maria Novella), and is situated on a lovely open, garden-like piazza, which is unusual in Florence. Its rooms are modern, well-appointed, and well thought-out, with enough room to move around. While there is no desk per se, it has a console table that suffices to work on a laptop, which is unusual in many European hotels. The rooms have a modern feel, tending to the spare, but quite comfortable. The bathroom is large and well-designed, with a decent-sized shower, a bidet, and plenty of room around the sink. The hotel has a pleasant continental breakfast, with the addition of some hot items, and is adequately sized for the clientele at this time of year (May), at least. The lobby is pleasant and spacious, and there is a very nice bar/restaurant with seating on the piazza outside. It was a joy to sit outside on a pleasant and cool May evening. If I had one complaint, it was that the soundproofing of the rooms seems to be lacking. Each evening and morning I could hear the (normal voice) conversations of my neighbors and of people in the hall. In light of the fact that everything else here was so good, this was a disappointment. I do not know whether some rooms are better than others in this regard. This has been my best hotel experience in Italy on this trip.
