"My stay at Hotel Hellsten"
The location, the friendly staff, the service and cleanliness of my room was excellent. I have stayed in this hotel three times this year because I've enjoyed it so much. The breakfast was lovely and if I had to go back to Stockholm again this year, I would stay there again.
"Unique Hotel with everything you need"
We stayed here for 3 nights. The rooms were small, much smaller than I expected. But it was unqiue...I got a room with stairs up to the bed. Not recommended if you are travelling with kids otherwise its pretty Unique in its interior...very olden days type of decoration yet veryy clean. The floor has a heater in the bathroom and i lovedd this. I love the bar!! The receptionist were nice and helpful and breakfast had everything..fruits, meat, egg, cereal , juice , cheese :) Its a short walk to the pink line commuter rail.
Excellent personal service in a wonderful small hotel; no wishes left open. Agreable rooms with enoght space gave us all the comfort we were longing for. Ideally situated to get a marvellous impression of Stockholm on foot. Many good restaurants within short walking distance.
"Not for tall people"
Breakfast is OK. My room had a too short bed. The room is near the door from the hallway, the doors were heavy and every door closure was heard as if someone entered your room, very loud. The room had a window at 4 meters height, basement feeling. The bathroom is good.
"At best is 2-star"
Check-in was adequate, but the front desk was not very approachable, particularly because the young lady was always on what sounded to be a personal call. The room size is as advertised (small), but garden level (window near ceiling) was not advertised and the room felt like a prison cell, especially with the strange, austere set-up. Shower was "European" so water goes everywhere, but can be considered normal, I guess. Hot water rarely got actually hot. You may like the breakfast, it was not special imo, but it was too crowded in the breakfast room. Worst part was the noise in the room. Footsteps in the stairwell, door to lobby slamming, and talkers outside until late, probably grabbing a smoke from the bar. Considering the meager toiletries (a pump for handsoap and a pump for shampoo), no kettle in the room, tissue paper-thin and rough towels, and no amenities to speak of, this is, at best, a 2-star hotel. If it were advertised as such, I would give it a 3 out of 5. Location depends on what you want. A decently long walk from Gamla Stan and the train Station. But doable. Or take pub tran. Some decent restaurants around.
