"Small but perfectly formed"
Booked The Hotel Juliani on the recommendation of a family member who had previously stayed there. We booked two Designer Suites. both were spacious and very well appointed. We both had balcony views, though as so hot when we stayed, it was a bit to hot even to sit out on it. One of our rooms had a bath as well as a shower. Shower was large and powerful, with a massage feature! Both bathrooms very nice, well lit with plenty of space for all your stuff. There are even two TVs, one by the bed and one in a separate sitting area. Both with plenty of English channels, if you have nothing better to do! Breakfast was great, good choice of treats to enjoy, enough to keep you going until dinner. Service was excellent, all staff very helpful and friendly. Great cocktails being served, happy hour from 7 to 8pm. Location is good, bus stop over the road. Area a little scruffy, not what I quite expected, traffic quite full on at times. But area a good base to explore what the island has to offer.
"Excellent, friendly boutique hotel"
I had an excellent 6 night stay at the Juliani and would certainly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in St Julian's. I stayed in a standard room, and was actually perfectly happy that my late request for an upgrade was unavailable. The room I had did have a sea view, one of the main reasons for an upgrade, though the view is from the side and not the front, and there is only a tiny balcony in these rooms. The room was a good size. The bed was extremely comfortable with nice bed linen. The air conditioning is very effective, and the wifi fast enough and reliable. As a Briton I appreciated the kettle with tea and milk provided ! The breakfasts are amongst the best I have had in a European hotel. Espresso based coffee is freshly made and served as part of the breakfasts, as many cups as you want. Freshly squeezed orange juice is served, eggs are cooked to order and there is a wide choice on the buffet including local items and hot items. There is a small swimming pool and sun terrace on the 9th floor roof. It's only just big enough to swim in, but is still nice after a busy day sightseeing. I had one meal in the “Asian Fusion” Zest restaurant. It's more about serving food from a variety of Asian countries (including Sushi and Beef Rendang) rather than the advertised “East meets West”. The food is good and it's a smart place, but it won't go down as one of my most memorable meals of the holiday. There are lots of good restaurants in Malta, and also many options near the Hotel. There were some problems with excursions I had arranged in advance with the hotel, and whilst these were frustrating they were all completely satisfactorily resolved by the hotel. There are easy cheap frequent connections using public transport buses to Valletta and Mdina right outside the hotel. There are also stops for the Hop On Hop Off bus tours. The Juliani is not cheap. It is a small (44 room) high quality hotel that provides friendly service. Thanks for a great stay.
"From USA to Hotel Juliani"
This is a well run hotel. Great location. Beautiful view. Exquisite restaurants on location. Friendly and knowledgeable staff (they went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable). We will revisit again.
"Well located friendly hotel"
We had a family break here for our daughters wedding in Valletta. The staff here are brilliant and really make the hotel, the breakfasts are really good and plentiful. It is in a very busy location, which we quite liked but don't go if you're looking for peace and quiet. Some of the public areas look like they could do with a good deep clean, and the rooms are just a little tired. However overall very good.
"Excellent "human-sized" hotel"
We had an excellent room with a very nice view on the Spinola Bay. The environment is totally focussed on tourism, with a lot of traffic and a lot of people. This will be very challenging for the future. We came to visit the different and very interesting historical and natural sites of Malta. We had a 7 day badge for the (aircooled) public busses. Bus stop Spinola is in front of the hotel. Coming back from our visits we enjoyed the silence in the hotel, in the well and silent aircooled soundproof very clean spaclous room (good bed too). The breakfast is excellent, in the bar fine cocktails are served. The restaurant is special, original and very good. The rooftop swimmingpool is an oasis. Because it is a "human-sized" hotel, we were not a number but a guest. The staff was very friendly.
