"children unfriendly in the club lounge"
The hotel is located in the center of Kowloon and clean with a nice harbour view, but a little old in general. One thing made our stay very regrettable. We stayed with our child at the executive floor to use club lounge. But the lounge staffs are unfriendly for children even being quiet; they ignored our order of tea and they asked to us to leave earlier. The family with a child cannot access the 21st floor of the lounge after 6pm and the only four tables in the 20th floor were always full with other guests without children after 6pm so that we were unable to use the lounge for two nights. The lounge access should be improved for the family stay.
"Great value "
I consider myself a Hong Kong hotel expert since I have stayed in different Hong Kong hotels yearly for the past ten years. Kowloon Shangri-La probably offers the best value for the money if you are a tourist doing the usual touristy stuff. Service is good and matches up well with the others costing quite a bit more. Grand Hyatt is great if you have business in convention center. Ritz Carlton is a bit away from touristy hangout in west Kowloon. JW Marriott, Island Shangri-La is all quite a walk to Central and I have trouble getting a taxi during rush hour or rainy evenings. The room is big enough but lack of a bath tub in regular rooms is definitely a minus. All in all, it is a great and comfortable stay for a reasonable room rate considering that you are in Hong Kong. I am most impressed with the general manager in lobby and reception area engaging with hotel guests to get their take on the hotel. I met and talk to him twice during my one-week stay and he appeared to be genuinely interested in hearing guests' opinion. This is the first for me after all these years of staying in all kinds of hotels.
"Family of four"
This is one of the few hotels where you can still get one room for a family of four. Most only accomodate only 3 and require you to get a second room. My kids were 10 and 12 when we went and had a great time. The hotel was still nice but starting to look a bit dated. It's still got a great location with easy access to the subway. I paid extra to get free breakfast and also access to the club level which was nice. The club had beverages, cookies, chocolates, fruits, and nespresso coffee. It should be noted however that this hotel doesn't have a pool however.
"3 NIght Stay"
Leaving this morning after a three night stay to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.Presented with flowers on arrival. Reception staff very friendly and efficient. Later that evening fizz and chocolates delivered to the room with a card from the hotel. View of the harbour from our room is breathtaking. Room and hotel very plush. Great location. Strongly recommend it.
We had a beautiful harbour view room so we didn’t even close the curtains at night so we could wake up to the spectacular view of the harbour. The hotel is immaculate and the staff are great, a special mention for Michael in the lounge who was excellent. Thank you also to the resident manager Julian Wipper who kindly took the time to stay and chat with us.
