"Nice hotel, BUT the most impolite, rude & unprofessional manager"
Upon our arrival we were asked for a credit card, we didn't have one, asked to give cash as a security deposit for potential expenses during our stay, as we had already pre-paid our accomodation for the whole stay, only to be told that that's inpossible! We have traveled around the world, first time this happens. They were adamant, we wouldn't get the room we had payed for unless we had a credit card! On top of that, we have had a very clear telephone conversation with the manager about the price and the type of room we would reserve only to find out upon arrival and after pre-paying the whole stay that we "misunderstood" and have booked the standard room. He was very rude, talked in French to his colleague thinking we wouldn't understand, but just his luck I am fluent in French! Ended up paying more for our room than our friends, traveling with us, a family with 3 children and a suite with 3 bedrooms!! Sad, since the hotel was overall nice, because next year we will chose another hotel.
"Quiet place in lovely surrondings!"
Stayed in the hotel for some days of hiking in the mountains. It is a nice place a bit outside the village. Quiet. The outside pool is well kept and nice, with lovely view over the hills. The room was a bit narrow, even though we stayed in a two bedroom suite. There was nowhere to put your bags. The room was in med of some renovation, it is a skiing hotel which puts its tracks. The bathrooms where fresh and nice. Overall a nice place with helpful staff!
We book Hotel L’Arboisie , Megeve, France from March 14 to 18 2017. We were very disappointed with this hotel for a number of reasons. 1. The room was extremely small so much so that two adults could not move around the room at the same time. For a four star hotel there was nowhere to sit and e.g. watch TV in the room. 2. The view from the bedroom was onto a large gas cylinder which sat at the bottom of a steep hill. As a result there was an unpleasant view out of the room. 3. We asked at Reception if we could move to a better room, they said they would look into it and get back to us they never did. Potential guests should be warned about the room types in this hotel because they are certainly worth what we were charged. Our visit was well below what you would expect from a hotel which advertises itself as a Four Star hotel.
"Wonderful hotel with an AMAZING views over the village of Megeve and the Alps!"
We just got back from a wonderful week at l'Arboisie. The hotel is located just above the village, with amazing views of the valley and the mountains. Upon our arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded to a three bedroom suite (we booked a one bedroom suite for one adult and two teens). Needless to say, my girls were ecstatic, as they each got a bedroom. The kitchen was well stocked with a huge fridge, microwave, electric kettle, dishwasher, and all the pots and pans, and utensils you would have needed, had you stayed in and cooked. Each room, including the den/kitchen area had a T.V., however, every channel was in French. The bathroom was small, but clean and modern. Our balcony was what really made our room though - the view was absolutely stunning! During the day, gorgeous mountain views, and at night, the lights from the village and all the mountain top chalets. Nice bar area with cozy chairs and couches in modern, chic mountain style. Fabulous restaurant, which I have rated separately. In addition, there is a tiny gym - yes, very small - but modern and clean. I used the treadmill a couple of times and I never had to wait my turn (I guess most people at a ski resort don't use the gym!). There is an indoor pool as well, but we didn't even take a look at it, as we were not interested in swimming. The hotel is in walking distance from the village, but the walk is steep and it gets pretty hard to walk UP from the village after a day of skiing, or after a nice dinner with wine! No problem though, as the hotel provides a free shuttle service to a from the hotel to the village every 20 minutes. This was very convenient when we were tired. Everyone, including the shuttle bus drivers, the receptionists, the bar tender, the cleaning lady, and the restaurant staff were extremely friendly and service minded. We could not have had a better experience at this gem in the Alps and we hope to go back.
"No, not at this rate"
When you are staying in an allegedly Suite at this rate you expect to have at least a mirror, quality furnitures, a modern bathroom and a little bit of style. This hotel has none of this characteristics... Hopefully the bar, the pool and the breakfast met my expectations.. I was told that they are about to modernize the rooms this spring. This is a relevant idea ..
