Staying here now. Pool is closed as is sauna. Breakfast is mediocre. They did not light pilot lights under food so it was cold and inedible. Towels are rough and only 2 for a bedroom. No concierge. And we had asked to borrow an adapter twice and they said no. In the room it says we have them for you if you need. No iron in rooms. We should have gone with our other choice if hotel. This is maybe a 3 Star at best.
"Not 4 or 5 star, maybe 3.5 stars"
So, first off, this is NOT a 4 or 5 start hotel, maybe 3.5 stars would be suitable I just spent 7 nights at this hotel - I was in BA on business. Right away I noticed some issues #1 WIFI in my room was SLOWWW - about 1-2 mbps (I measure these things). I need good WIFI for work in off hours. I checked with desk. A snotty woman desk clerk said there were no problems with the WIFI #2 At the same time I asked if they had any kettles for the rooms to make hot water for tea (like most hotels I have ever been in around the world - or they have a coffee maker). She said NO - they don't have those. So the next day I asked if I could upgrade to a larger room (since the desk in my room was mostly consumed by the large TV) - yes I could for $25 a day- DONE! Guess what - this room (a Junior Suite) has Fast WIFI (about 40 mbps), a kettle, and a coffee maker! Anyway, there were a lot of inconsistencies at the hotel - what the maids would do for room cleaning (like forget toilet paper, leave soap or not, leave water or not, etc.). Also I could not get more coffee pods for the coffee machine no matter how hard I tried - so gave up and used some coffee bags I brought. The front desk would give different answers. For example, I wanted to extend checkout 6 hours on the day I left because my flight was late at evening. First person told me this would be USD60, 2nd person told me USD40, and then on checkout - USD 0 (fine by me) So... PROS Close to Plaza Mayo, Casa Rosada and quite a few other areas that are good to visit. My work was a pleasant 1 mile walk Mostly pretty good food Most of the staff was incredibly nice Rooms were fairly quiet and had good blackout curtains Beds were good and decent pillows CONS Some desk staff very rude A lot of the furnishings are old, torn, had holes, etc. Floor sagged severely in one part of my room In general - lots of stuff just plain old and tired You can't depend on wakeup calls happening (so I set 2 cell phone alarms) The smoking section is the front entry of the hotel - I smoke and was told prior to arrival that they had a smoking terrace (HAHA) - but I think the smoking must be very annoying for non-smokers to walk thru the smokers upon entry or exit from hotel I don't know why the pool is only open during summer, but it would be nice if the pool area (it is on top floor) were open as a place to get fresh air. I could say more, but I think you get the idea. The management has some real issues. I would not stay here again if I had a choice, but getting hotel rooms in BA can be difficult at times because of business and tourists - this had not been the first choice of hotels that the company I was working for had - but other hotels were fully booked.
Service is not what you expect of a hotel that charge you on an average 160 euros per night. the rooms are old and need updating and very small. service is very poor. breakfast is limited and tasteless. The location is good but better pay less somewhere else and invest in taxis. the lobby is always filled with the smell cigarettes because people smoke right in front of the lobby which is still inside. Nothing what I would expect from NH.
"Good location for a 3.5 star hotel "
This would be a 3.5 star hotel in my opinion. The finishings look like a crowne plaza or Sheraton with decent amenities like a fitness center and a good bar. The hotel seems to have very Kabul process, so check in / check out may take longer than expected
Where do I start' Let me just make it as short as possible - staff here seems not to be well treated by management for them to care about their work. It's either that or they really lack training. All of my service requests, which the reception said will be done, were either not done or took a very long time. A note inside the room says just dial 0 if you need anything (it connects you to reception). Guess what - no one answers or someone will pick up the phone and hang up right away without answering. Or you are told to wait a minute and then hang up. It seems they couldn't be bothered by guests. I thought they were just really busy, so I tested my theory - I went down to reception and asked for something. There were two staff there attending to no one. I went up right away and dialled 0. Guess what - still no answer! Unbelievable! To top off the lousy service, staff in this hotel also do not know how to smile! Anyway, it was my first trip to Buenos Aires and it certainly left a bad impression. I thought the service industry in Argentina just sucks, but services I got in restaurants and shops were warm and efficient. So I guess it just might be this hotel. Btw, they market themselves as 5-star! It's hilarious because it's nowhere near it! Furniture (both in the rooms and in the lobby) looks all dirty, I had to spread a towel over the chairs before I sat. The only redeeming value it seems is their steak. It's really good, but so are the steaks all over Argentina so I'm taking that back!
