"Regrettably, cannot recommend for business travelers."
Regrettably, we cannot recommend this otherwise very nice hotel for business travelers or anyone who might need to rely on timely messages from the front desk. Our luggage did not arrive with us Sunday in Amsterdam and we were waiting delivery to the hotel. Tues night the baggage tracking office (the impossibly inept Avia Partners) left a message that the luggage had been shipped to Brussels, but would not be delivered to Bruges, rather returned to Amsterdam late the next morning. We could have easily driven to Brussels airport to pick them up, but the front desk never relayed the message to us that night or the next morning. The desk's excuse, "we didn't want to disturb you" was both fatuous and self serving. Their job is NOT to make decisions for guests, but relay messages. Poor training.
"We will return"
We chose the hotel because of being local to the centre and being part of SLH. We found the staff so helpful and friendly and the hotel is cosy and everything works. Great breakfast and nice little leaving gift!
"Beautiful Unique Property"
Spent 1 night at the Orangerie and enjoying every minute of it. It is a great base from which to explore Bruges. You cannot get more central in the middle of the old town. In terms of what sets this property apart, it is a family-run luxury property where the details are impressive and personal. Specifically: 1. Ambiance - The interiors and rooms have been meticulously decorated with luxury furnishings and fixtures. The common lobby and lounge area are beautiful and the rooms are quaint. You quickly understand why this luxury property is a cut above other options. 2. Rooms - As it is an historical building, rooms are unique and quaint. We received a 2-level double with a sitting area and a sleeping loft with skylights. The view was lovely and the decor was classic and very comfortable. Loved it! 3. Terrace - The outdoor terrace is a great location for an afternoon cocktail. These are properly mixed with top local gins and other liquors. There is also an extensive beer list and top quality wine on offer as well. Just press the button for service and it appears. 4. Service - Reception is professional and friendly. They are attentive and have recommendations to offer without being intrusive. Overall, we loved our weekend stay. Bruges is a beautiful little city and the Orangerie really made our stay a charming one! Highly recommend!
"Wonderful and Romantic"
Beautiful and historic hotel but not at all stuffy. Staff was wonderfully helpful and engaging. Breakfasts were amazing. Common areas on the first floor seemed to beg guests to sit, relax and soak in the atmosphere. Service was excellent. Would definitely recommend to anyone...families or couples. Great location in the heart of the city.
