"Good location/ staff English not the best"
We stayed here for 3 days/2nights. Upon arrival we went to the check in desk and said Hello and the lady at the desk didn't respond but pointed at her colleague next to her, which we assumed was he will do the check in. The checkin process was quick but the level of English wasn't as good as the other hotels in Brazil we stayed at until this point. The hotel is dated but very clean and decent facilities. We had a luxury double which was a large room with a separate living room. The bathroom was old fashion and the tub was very dated "1980s/90s" but everything worked well. The level of English was frustrating as we called to ask for extra pillows and after being transferred to two other people no one understood the word pillow!! This was finally sorted but it was slightly painful as they also called the room another 3 times to ask what we wanted. We had a corner room with views of the city and two balconies. No seats for the balconies though so not intended for relaxing. The location is great as it is next to bars and restaurants and a 4 mins walk from the main road with more amenities. The breakfast is wide ranging and typical Brazilian breakfast selection. Nothing is labelled in English so you will have to take a leap of faith on your selection. The juices didn't taste freshly squeezed but that's a preference of taste. You can book at a tour desk next to reception several options for your time in Iguazu. Feliz at the tour desk was the nicest staff member there. If you're English speaking it can be difficult at times but this offers good value for money in a good location with decent amenities.
I could overlook the dated decor, dowdy rooms and unappealing corridor carpets, if Rafain offered decent service and housekeeping. It didn't. The hotel recommended a well known Brazilian barbecue, saying the restaurant would drive us to and from Rafain. The driver arrived and took us to the restaurant. The problem: It wasn't the place we booked. The same hotel staffer wasn't surprised to see us back so quickly. Without telling us he'd switched restaurants because our choice couldn't drive us. Strange. We took a cab to the barbecue and enjoyed our meal. The hotel eventually printed boarding passes for us but they didn't want to. There's a no can do attitude. The worse for me was the housekeeping. I found my just-washed T-shirt on the bathroom floor. The cleaner had hung the towels and chucked my laundry, Nasty.
"Basic place to stay"
I just went one night on a business trip. My single room was extremely small, with a tiny window facing a wall. The bar in the lobby was closing at 11 p.m., quite early for a summer night in my view. Friendly staff.
"Needs makeover "
4Stars for what' Friendly staff but....Poor unstable Internet. Boring breakfast buffet yogurt had a sandy texture and and orange juice made form instant mix. Tiny swimming pool. Rooms are worn down and in desperate need of renovation.
"A good base to explore the falls"
The rooms are a bit dated, but the hotel has lots of character and is in a good area from which you can walk to most places in Foz. The best part about it is the pool - a great spot to relax with some drinks after a day at the falls! Breakfast buffet was included with our room and had lots of variety, including made-to-order omelettes and tapioca crepes.
