Ideally located on the Amalfi Coast just two kilometres from the town centre, Hotel Villa Pandora enjoys one of the most famous and spectacular sea views in the world.
We made a booking via Agoda for 2 nights. Upon arrival we were told that there was a system error and that we could only stay 1 night which was not of interest to us. Furthermore we noticed that the hotel is right on the main road Salerno-Amalfi i.e. it is extremely busy, loud and smelly.
"Villa Pandora beautiful but noisy..."
Beautiful but if you like the windows/doors open for that sweet Mediterranean night air, get ready for traffic noise! Cars, buses during the day/evening then rubbish trucks & semi trailers early early morning. Did not bother me, but thought it best to give a true review. Not cheap but has everything. Great staff.
"Stunning hotel, great location, lovely stay"
We arrived at the hotel 2 hours before the scheduled check in of 2pm and we were greeted by the hotel manager Michaela. She was very friendly and made us a coffee while she checked if our room was ready. It was and although there were a number of stairs to get to our room, a man carried our bags for us. We stayed in a deluxe sea view room with a balcony and it was spectacular, the views took my breath away. The room was clean, light and a really good size, the bed was unbelievably comfy. The bathroom was a decent size and the shower was huge. The only minor thing was that the shower didn't drain particularly well so I had to turn it off half way through to the let the water go down. Breakfast was nice with a good enough variety; the crockery was charming too! The swimming pool area was nice but the pool itself was absolutely freezing - I only managed to get in up to my knees before chickening out! It's so peaceful and tranquil up there, you can really switch off and relax. Location wise, the hotel is easy to get to from Salerno, the SITA sud bus stops right outside the hotel if you ask the driver. The bus also continues to Amalfi so you can catch it from the hotel every hour. The hotel is located 2km from Maiori and it's a nice 25 minute walk. From Maiori you can also catch the ferry to Amalfi for 3 euros, although the last ferry back is about 7pm.
"Went out of their way to buy bus tickets"
We stayed 1 night in a room overlooking the sea. It was so nice to sit on our balcony with a glass of wine and enjoy the view. The room was very large and comfortable. Lots of stairs to climb however, our bags were cartied for us up and down....huge plus! Negatives...Small stall shower, minimal selection at breakfast, ac wouldn't turn on. I give them extra praise though since they sent an employee into Maiori to buy bus tickets for us to Salerno. That's great service!
"Good place to relax completely and sunbathe"
Quiet small hotel outside the rush of Maiori, amazing view, kind helpful staff. A bit out of the way from the town center, which is a good thing if you are looking for somewhere quiet with not too many people. Its rooftop pool ideal for quiet sunsoaking away from the beachgoing madness. Dining-in options are modest in variety but delicious and very reasonably priced, good restos a quick walk downhill including the fabulous Torre Normana. We would definitely stay there again.
