A very nice hotel and very well located. Just at little smile in the reception and assistance with the luggage was missing.Comment of L. Per , Denmark the 2015-09-07

"Lovely hotel, great views, good location"
I stayed here in October 2017 for 2 nights, and wished I could have stayed longer. I didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on that but my room was lovely, the view of the city was great, it was in a good location which was easy to find and the whole place was clean and well cared for. Plus there was a lovely smell of flowers in the vestibule! I was travelling by myself and felt very comfortable here.
"Comfortable and well sited hotel"
Very comfortable hotel along side East Nanjing Street a few minutes walk from the Bund. We were there mostly as tourists. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean and well freshened up every day. Also very quiet - very important in a busy part of the city. Some aspects could do with a little modernisation - a weird lighting system in the bedroom and rather shaky electric sockets for example. Staff were extremely helpful - calling taxis, arranging airport links etc. Breakfast was excellent - catering well to tastes worldwide. The name is definitely 'Guxiang' - best carry a card with the name in characters for taxis returning to the hotel.
"Great Choice for a central hotel!"
This hotel has recently changed name to "Guziang Hotel Shanghai" and is going to be under the Marriott management soon we were told. That explains the confusion with our taxi driver! Anyway the location of this hotel is excellent and within walking distance of the MRT and lots of the tourist attractions. It is especially good if you want to be near the Bund and the pedestrianised Nanjing Road East. In fact it overlooks it with all its shops, restaurants and other outlets. Good clean and comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Polite staff and tried to help in spite of their limited English and the non existence of our Chinese! Breakfast was calm and plenty of choice to suit everyone. Good Spa, pool, gym, steam and sauna facilities which we used to escape the rain! We spent 5 nights and would recommend. Would go for the rooms facing towards Nanjing Road as more interesting outlook and higher floors.
"Nice Place in the heart of Shanghai "
Stayed here for 2 days in the month of April 2017. Fantastic location... You can walk along Nanjing road to the Bund or to People's Square. Loads of food options for the international traveler... Decent rooms and helpful staff. Would recommend to anyone without hesitation
"Confused with name change"
When I booked I thought I was booking a Howard Johnson Hotel but when I arrived the name was Guxiang Hotel so must have recently changed' Near Nanjing Rd. Not long after I arrived I went for a walk (a wonderfully convenient location) but could find my way back tothe hotel as I had forgotten the chinese name and forgot to take a hotel business card. I EVENTUALLY FOUND THE HOTEL WHICH HAS AN ART DECO TYPE EXTERIOR (curved ends). I never had a problem finding it again. It is a fabulous location but confusing name for a dumb westerners like me. I have been to Shanghai 6 times before so should have been better prepared.
