"One weekend, two hotels, this far superior"
Came to Chicago to meet my NY based boyfriend who was there for a conference at the Intercontinental. We were there for two nights and it was very nice. We stayed in Chicago for a third night and since we had to pay for it on our own, I booked the Hyatt Centric, about 4 or 5 blocks away. We loved this place so much more. I had booked on a travel website - when I checked in, was offered to upgrade for $50 and took it. Good move. Huge room, huge bathroom. Huge walkin shower. Much more comfy bed and much quieter. Staff was exceptional. Great location just off Michigan Avenue - walking distance for us to dinner, bars and shopping. We wished we had time to have a drink at the bar - it looked lovely and fun and everyone seemed to have be having a good time. Nothing against the IC, but I will be looking to stay here next time we are in Chicago. Parking at any hotel in downtown Chicago is insane and this one is no different, which is my only gripe (but they are no worse than anyone else). If you're driving, try SpotHero or the like to find something cheaper.
The hyatt centric is Located in the middle of the things anyone will want to do in Chicago. Also the staff is very friendly and helpful with a lot of knowledge of the area. Will definitely recommend and return
"Completely clogged sink! Poor response from customer service!"
I chose this location as my mother-in-law is very ill at Northwestern Memorial Hospital located across the street. I had dinner at the restaurant. Food was OK, service was not good. They made 2 mistakes on my order. WORST was my sink was totally clogged. When I complained the next day (I did not have one moment to call housekeeping to unclog due to my relative’s illness/spent all my time at the hospital, Brandon blamed me for not calling and said “with us having 419 rooms, clogs can happen...”. If housekeeping had cleaned the sink, they’d have immediately noticed it. Nothing drained. It was disgusting and totally full of water/debris when I left in the morning. I won’t stay there again.
"Hyatt Centric- Magnificent Mile, Chicago"
I don't write many reviews. However, this hotel really deserves credit. The staff was wonderful and ensured that we had the best stay possible. When we originally arrived, after checking in, the floor we were on smelled of smoke. The front desk staff immediately took care of this for us which included an upgrade on a different floor at no extra charge. We were ensured that the smoking issue would be dealt with and upon check out we were told that the persons smoking were charged for this as well as were approached right after we informed the staff of this issue. The location is great if looking for easy walking to everywhere around Michigan Ave, Rush Street and more. Having a Starbuck's (indoors- especially during the cold winter months) right in the building was a great perk as we enjoyed a coffee here each morning while we planned out our day. Beatrix (restaurant) right across the street is phenomenal (we ate there twice it was so good and we were in Chicago for goodness sake!)- must try the lemon pancakes and everything at this restaurant was truly fresh. The concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable in giving directions and great places to eat. We live in Michigan and love to take the train to Chicago during the winter months as we then miss a lot of the hustle and bustle. We simply get away and enjoy this part of the area. Even though this hotel is not huge by any means it is definitely worth staying here while in Chicago. We have been to Chicago several times and we will definitely go back here if the service remains the same. I recommend a corner/King room- perfect for a couple. A shout out to Debbie, Sonja (I think' So sorry, I cannot remember the name for sure), Also, the door man was very helpful in keeping our bags for us for the remainder of the last day there as our train didn't leave until 6:30 that evening. He was very friendly. Oh, bed was very comfortable and sheets were soft (this doesn't always happen at even the greatest of hotels). The value in the winter months cannot be beat price wise for Chicago. Kudos.
"Weekend visit "
I stayed at the Hyatt Centric from 1/11-1/14/18. My stay overall was very pleasant. I wasn’t able to enjoy all the amenities due to the fact I was out on the town ALL day everyday. Which was fine. As far as the hotel room itself... super cozy! Housekeeping deserves an A+! Our housekeeper Maria kept our room up to part with a sweet note both days. Location of the hotel was sweet & uber was a must being the hotel charges $60 dollars for parking a night. Starbucks was attacked to the hotel... OMG! Yassss.
