"Very average, upgrades are a con."
If you get told you have a free upgrade - don't believe it, we got one and the room was basic, not even a balcony. Also don't bother checking menus online, they are out of date. However if you want to just spend the day in a pool bar right on the beach then this is the place.
Oaverall we had a great vacation. Pros: the staff was genuinely kind and ready to please you. The food was excellent. The resort was very well mainteained and so clean. Some of the night shows are fun and entertaining. We enjoyed the circus and the Michael Jackson shows a lot. We also liked the Mexican night. The entertaining personal are very sweet and professional. The kids club personnel are amazing. The kids don't want to leave the club because the staff is very gracious and caring. Cons: The staff don't give you all the necessary infomation. We never knew exactly what was going on the resort. There was a a lot of misinformation, and this was in general for everything. For instance, kids club personnel would say something, then other staff would say something contradicting. There is a great lack of information about activities, what to do or dress code. In general, information is very vague or contradicting. The jacuzzis were never really at good temperature during the time we were there. The elevator was a real pain, coming and going to the room was cumbersome and the noise due to construction at times very loud, disturbing.
We were exceptionally happy with our recent stay at Hyatt Ziva. The staff was very friendly. The food and drinks were good. Our room and view were beautiful. Martin, one of the pool activity organizers, was so nice and funny. We stayed in a hot tub balcony club tower room, and have no complaints. It was clean. We received fresh towels without having to request them. Our mini bar was stocked daily. The only issue was it was a little warm in the room at night. Restaurant staff was super nice and went out of their way to help us. The Italian restaurant manager went above and beyond to help get us pizzas. And a waiter at the buffet ran next door to the Mexican restaurant to get us two huge plates of guacamole because there wasn't any at the buffet. I wish I knew their names. It was in a great location. Maybe 10 minutes to downtown by taxi. And the ride typically only cost us $6. The lobby staff were always quick to get us taxis. Beach was beautiful and private. Never crowded. We could always find a secluded spot for photos. My only complaint with the resort in general would be that the pool tiles need to be scrubbed clean. That's it. This resort is undergoing renovations right now. The upper floors in the club tower had people working during the day, but the noise never bothered us because we weren't in our room during the day. I would've been more irritated if we had stayed in the other tower, which seems to be undergoing a more extensive reno throughout the building. And only one elevator was working. I would definitely recommend this resort but I would get a club tower room until the renovations are complete. We would return tomorrow if we could.
"Staff were very nice, waiters very nice, outdoor great, view perfect , activity not that great, intertwine the can be"
Staff were very nice, waiters very nice, outdoor great, view perfect , activity not that great, intertwine the can be Better, like movie night or disco, more fun for night life, towels were not soft and must be change, room cleaning needs more attention, it was clean but not complete, but I go back definitely
"Just returned from a week at the Hyatt Ziva and wish we could have stayed for much longer"
We have stayed in many hotels over the years, but had not tried an all inclusive until this year. We stayed initially at another hotel in PV and it just didn't meet expectations. The rooms were ok and the food was less than acceptable. We then ventured to the Hyatt Ziva for the remaining few days and left wanting to stay for much longer. The best part of the stay: The people!!! Dulce, Edgar, and Martin that provide constant activities for all the kids and parents! Beginning with beach front Yoga and ending with the pool side shows our entire family was completely exhausted by days end. When you are finally tired of playing in the sun, you are pleasantly provided a wealth of dining options. Our family is extremely picky, however we found many options on the property. The steaks at Blaze were better than the steaks we paid for at a local Argentina restaurant we ate at earlier in the week. Quick Tip - When they are closed take the kids to look for the iguana's just past the restaurant. The rest of the staff didn't miss a beat with their service and consistent positive and welcoming attitude. Also the beach here is one of the best in the area for kids. Other areas around the boardwalk are less attractive and very rough. We were unable to keep our kids out of the water for most of the trip.
