"We love our Butlers!!!!"
We had the most amazing trip to the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall!!! And it was made even better by Stephen, Toni, and Kenton!!! They treated us as their family the moment we arrived!!! We will definitely come back and will definitely request these butlers again!!!
I went there to attend a company function and must admit that this hotel exceeded my expectations. My daughter was quite happy with the pools. The service was excellent and the buffet food was always delicious. The staff were always helpful and the kiddies area's staff were excellent with my daughter. I will definitely return with my family.
"WORST HOTEL FOR A CONFERENCE"
I had the displeasure of being a part of a conference recently held at the Hyatt Ziva. I have been an integral part of the planning and hosting of two conferences held each year for the past 7 years, all held in Jamaica, so you can say I have been to almost every hotel in Jamaica. I have also attended conferences at hotels all over the world (including Florida, New York, Las Vegas, California, and China). At first, the Hyatt seemed like a very good conference setting. Our first contact was with Tamina Williams (Sales) who was very warm, professional and made you feel as if you came to the right place. As soon as you sign their contract and pay the first deposit you are turned over to the Meetings & Special Events Manager, that is where the true colours of the Hyatt start to come out. At every point thereafter, you feel as if the Hyatt is trying to suck every last penny out of your pocket. From first contact, the Hyatt has bragged about being a five-star hotel and that’s what makes the cost more than other hotels, so perhaps my expectations were that of what should have been offered at a 5 star hotel. Most hotels offer free wifi everywhere. The Hyatt Ziva offers free wifi everywhere except for the conference area. We had our own audio- visual equipment and figured we could save on cost by using it, but it was not much savings, because of all the add-on costs at the end of the day. Everything attracted a charge. Even the wifi was at an additional cost. We had to negotiate for secure storage of our equipment as that was not automatically offered with the package. To my surprise, a week before the event I got an email from the events manager stating that if we even need a power cord or extension cable it would attract a cost. The meeting and special events manager came with every reason why we should use the hotel’s equipment but the problem is the cost of using the hotels is literally the same as buying the equipment. You would think that for a group which was taking 120 rooms, they would allow a few guest presenters to come on property, but no, not at the Hyatt. We were charged $125 per person for those who came to make a presentation. All other properties in Jamaica that we have been to, have allowed guests on an approved list, access to the conference. There is poor lighting in the conference area, and the carpet is dirty. The room we were given for storage had a musty smell and the lock didn’t work. Believe me, the list can go on. I will do my outmost best to dissuade anyone from engaging this hotel for a conference, as this is certainly not a 5 star hotel. Perhaps it aspires to be, but is not there yet for sure! It is a 5 star “wannabe” hotel. Another issue I had was them trying to give me a standard room and telling me it was an upgraded room. The room they claimed was upgraded was small and would not have been able to accommodate the three persons I had booked for. There was one bed, and two chairs. I still do not know where they were going to fit a roll away bed for my daughter. The room was located on a block where they were doing construction. The hallways were dusty and smelled of paint. The room was a standard room with no upgrades. I am not sure why they were trying to convince us otherwise, but having stayed at the Hyatt before, we were aware of what a standard room was as compared with an upgraded room. That was an outright lie! In addition to this, we were told the hotel was fully booked so we could not get a room change. This was another outright lie, because not only did we get a room change, we had other persons come to us at the hotel, and we were asked if we would like to book them into a room as well. How could they book into a room if the hotel was fully booked and they had no reservation' The hotel construction started as early as 6 am, waking members of our party with loud banging. Not all rooms had safes. A member of our party asked about it and was told it could be requested. This gave the impression that they are easily removed, so we did not even risk using ours. Another morning, members of our party were awakened from a fire alarm going off at 5am which turned out to be a false alarm. One evening, we were served chicken stuffed with pork (without being informed or offered another option) and members of our party do not eat pork. There were no top shelf liquors at some bars. Too many rules. Eg. There is a pub which is open late, but you are not allowed to take food out, you must eat there or order room service, even if you need just a cup of tea after 10pm. Room service takes no less than an hour, regardless of what you order. There is miscommunication from the staff, as to what is available. Eg. On two separate occasions, we were told of the coffee shop being open 24 hours for late night snacks. It opens at 6am and closes at 10pm. The few good things about the hotel are: Very nice rooms on the Rose Hall block (perhaps the only 5 star thing about the entire hotel), beach was ok, food was ok, even though it was repeated (basically the same thing for lunch and dinner every day, and we were there for 6 days). Fuzion specialty restaurant was good, and the grill was ok. (Very poor services from the steak house, don’t try there). The aesthetics of the hotel is nice, clean and picturesque. The line staff are pleasant but middle management is clueless when it comes to customer service, and upper management was non- existent. Having been there as a guest on one occasion before, then participating in this conference after, I still am not impressed and certainly will not be rushing to visit there again. Perhaps I would not have been as disappointed if the expectations were not for a 5 star hotel, having experienced a REAL 5 star hotel before, but this one certainly did not make the grade. What 5 star hotel makes their guests carry their own bags, while the bell hop walks empty handed to the room' Unbelievable!
"Be back very soon "
Had the most amazing time at the Hyatt ziva . I had booked a couples vacation , in the 1 bedroom suite with butler services . I action in a regular basis and I have never been so relaxed. An amazing resort with the best food and beautiful property. Our butlers Nickeisha ,Josh and Tarrick who most definitely where the reason why our trip was so relaxing. They went above and beyond to make our trip perfect . We also looked forward to going to beach everyday and see Alicia & Julia on the ziva beach who as made sure our day was going well with the biggest smile everyday .
"Do you believe in dungeons"
Believe it! We were given a room in the “basement” of building number two and i really felt that i was in a dungeon. Very dank hallways and once in the room, things did not work. I will tell you this, that I did go up to the front desk and told them that the room was inadequate and the desk person moved us out and into building number three. This was like night and day! What a big difference. The personnel were great and friendly. Just be cautious as to where you stay.
