"**Do not hire this property as a wedding venue!!!**"
The location and property are absolutely beautiful and perfect for a private getaway villa. However, this is as long as you have no reservations about being constantly surveyed and monitored by the staff managing the villa, on the multiple CCTV cameras placed around the property and also by having your privacy invaded by the management wandering around throughout the day and checking up on you. We hired the villa for a destination wedding with 50 guests. We paid €6,500/- for the villa for 5 days including the wedding day. This included an extra €1000 for a "wedding package" which did not provide any additional services as such, other than to allow 50 people to be on the premises. The first issue arose when we were informed the morning of the wedding, that the bridal party should be getting ready at their "own villas" (situated in multiple locations around the island). According to the villa management, there was no need for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready together...!' We made it very clear that it is tradition for the bridal party to be together during the morning of the wedding and after much objection and many discussions, it was reluctantly agreed by the property management that that this could go ahead. Upon providing the villa as a wedding location, they failed to take into account the need for mirrors in the property. We had asked for a single full length mirror to be brought in for the morning so that the girls could do their makeup and prepare their outfits, but this was declined as a service which they were unfortunately "unable to provide". It must be noted that the owner and manager of the property had no input towards the wedding logistics or execution but insisted on being present for the whole day to "oversee things". On the morning of the wedding, prior to our 50 guests arriving, we were informed that the property would be completely locked so that no one could go inside, and that the manager would be sat, for the duration of the event, on a chair placed in the middle of the reception area. This was rightfully not accepted by us, as there was no justification for their actions. We were told that they didn't want high heels to be worn inside the villa on the floors which we were more than happy to agree to - we were more than respectful of the villa and could understand their reasonings for that. However, they still insisted on all the doors being locked to stop anyone from entering the villa. We had a number of elderly family members at the wedding who were forced to use the outside toilets at the top of a large flight of cobbled stone stairs - which needless to say, was unnecessarily dangerous, when they could have used the bathroom inside the villa on ground level. During the speeches, the bride's father had extended an invitation to the family members of the wedding party (who had travelled from multiple destinations around the world) to attend a relaxed afternoon with some snacks at Kamini Villa the following day. As people were leaving later in the evening, the management came up and informed us that they had been listening to the speeches and that guests would not be allowed on the villa terrace area the following day. At this point, it was too late to re-inform people of the plans so we went ahead and had a very small gathering - around 20 people - for a very quiet, relaxed afternoon at Kamini. Once the guests had arrived, management informed the bride and groom that they would be required to pay an additional €500 per person - this was not even a conversation which we were prepared to entertain. The manager then proceeded downstairs to the office to draw up a "legal document" which he told us we needed to sign. Thankfully, he must have known he was in the wrong as we didn't see him again for the couple of hours we were there. In conclusion, it seems that the property owner and manager are far too emotionally attached to the villa, which they are trying to run as a business. It is undoubtedly a beautiful place and location, but is tainted by the way in which it is run. It has to be said that the management interference really took the shine away from what was supposed to be the most beautiful, enjoyable day of our lives. Such a shame. Conclusion: beautiful villa to rent for a couple. Do not hold events here, even with Management consent.
"Still Here and NEVER leaving :-p"
Ok luxury trippers - we almost followed the herd to the Caldera, bit for our trip being 15 nights long - we wanted something private and also with great views and did I say privacy' Villa Kamini is nestled on the hillside just down from Pyrgos - sunrise on the Aegean BEATS the Caldera sunset (that could easily be interrupted by clouds) tenfold. If you book more than three days they throw in a car and driving is easy to get anywhere you want. Or your concierge here will arrange a driver if it suits your needs. You get breakfast made every morning - whatever you want. Housekeeper on site - launders too! Owner lives nearby and delights you with fresh flowers from her garden. Eggs are fresh from her fathers chickens. Totally awesome villa. Pool and hitting cleaned daily. Immaculate and impeccable interiors on this 10,000 sq m property! If you don't want 4 cruise ship a day trippers gawking at you on your postage-size terrace on the Caldera, trying to catch that important pic they feel they have to have, if you don't have to "be seen" or have people peering at you sunbathing - look a bit off the typical path for a place like Villa Kamini! Just don't book it when we want it cuz we are coming back!
I reckon, It's a paradise stay in a rather more heavenly island in that part of the world. Such an amazing welcome by the Owner of the Villa and the Staff available in the premise, makes you feel like almost home. The ambience around is just so divine and peaceful. Secluded and providing extreme privacy and security at the same point of time are some of the added advantages of the Villa location. The proximity to the closest places around the island, the amazing breakfast, the Pool, the Jacuzzi, the Kitchen (WOW). Hats off to the Villa owner who has specially taken care in designing and crafting each corner of the villa with fine sense of style. Me and my wife had the best time on our Honeymoon at this Villa. I recommend this to all who are looking to have their best time on this gorgeous island. HATS OFF Kamini Villa Team. Cheers.
