"Nice but disappointed "
As soon as I booked this holiday I was really looking forward to it. A nice week away with my mum. The hotel was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for you especially the pool boys and at the restaurants. Firstly the cab from airport( Malaga airport) to the hotel was €115 and same from hotel to airport. So make sure you put €230 aside which took a massive chunk out of our spending money. We booked to stay on a half board basis which we always do and maybe it's my fault for not checking there's no buffet and you only have a choice of 3 restaurants. Spanish tapas with very small portions on the menu. Or a fish restaurant which was very poor. Or a steak and wine restaurant which was lovely and I felt it was our only choice. We had €65 each to spend which was plenty but very small menu. We were eating the same food again and again. Breakfast was really nice, normal. Room wise, we booked a premiere room which was beautiful and had a partial sea view and I thought we were gonna have 2 double beds but we got 2 singles. So I had to sleep on the sofa bed so my mum could have the bed which was very uncomfortable for me. Pool side I must say was fantastic. Sun beds very comfy. Pools were amazing. Kept nice. And you can't reserve beds before 10 so you can have a lovely lay in and breakfast without having to rush. Drink wise. Oh my god. You need to take a second mortgage on your house to afford a coke. €10 for 3 sips. €17 for 2 ice creams. Ridiculous. Nice place but I'll never go back again. A bit disappointed because I pay exactly the same money to go to Dubai and when I come back home can't wait to go back. I've came back from Keminski hotel Bahia feeling meeeehhhh!!!
"Luxury without being pretentious"
My wife and I have just spent a week in this wonderful hotel. It is our second visit and definitely will not be our last. It is the perfect place to relax. The staff are very attentive and the breakfast are a veritable feast. The rooms are very comfortable and there is always more than enough room in the gardens or the beach even in the busiest times to be able to chill out. Probably our favourite hotel to relax in , in the world.
"A Wonderful Hotel"
My wife and I stayed recently at the Kempinsky Hotel Bahia for 3 days and we had a marvelous time at this hotel. We arrived early by car, before noon. At the check-in desk we met Marina, a young lady who looked for a good room for us. We had booked a room with a sea view. After she found a room for us, she brought us personally to our room and showed us around. Our luggage came up and our car was put in the garage for us. We stayed in Room 507, which had a great view of the sea, the gardens of the hotel, the watchtower, and the pools. Our bedroom had two comfortable twin beds. The bedroom was quite large and the furnishings were modern. Beside each bed was a night table with a drawer, where you could store things. There was a lamp and plenty of lighting for reading in bed. On one wall there were two closets with plenty of hangers and between the closets was a cabinet with plenty of storage space. One of the closets had the room safe. The room had a beige carpet. There was a black desk, also with a drawer. The desk had a gold colored lamp on top of it. Above the desk was a framed modern painting in blue. Nearby were handy electrical connections. There was a comfortable desk chair. The room had a small sofa with a red and pink flower print and this was really a small sofa bed where one other person could sleep. In front of this sofa there was a small round table. There was a piece of furniture where the large TV sat on. In the middle was a large refrigerator. On one end there was space to store things and the other end enclosed several types of drinking glasses. The bathroom was quite large and was faced with ceramic tile in a beige color. There was a twin vanity and plenty of storage space below the counter for trash. A small cubicle contained the toilet and the bidet. There was a separate enclosed rain shower with very easy to use water controls. Difficult to control rain showers are my pet peeve! There was a large bathtub and above it there was a window connecting it to the bedroom with venetian blinds if one wanted privacy. There was a large full length mirror across the bathroom door. The bedroom had plenty of different lights, which was great. The terrace had two chairs and one small round table between them. The terrace had beautiful views of the sea, the ancient watch-tower, the gardens and the pools. The pools were quite big and one could relax in them and everything was quiet in that area, with people relaxing on sunbeds. The breakfast buffet was served at 7:30 am and there was a beautiful terrace where one could eat if the weather was good. You could hear the birds singing in this area, since the terrace is surrounded by trees, shrubs and flowers. The variety of food was very good and there was a cook who could fry you eggs or make you an omelet. I enjoyed the sausages, meatballs and tortilla. There were two types of cava offered, one white and one pink. I tried both and enjoyed them. Only the best hotels offer cava for their guests. When we checked out, we just called the staff to come up to our room for our bags. They took our bags and put them in our car, which was waiting outside the main entrance to the hotel. So checkout was very easy. All the personnel at the hotel were very friendly and willing to help the guests. My wife and I travel every month in Spain, since travel is our hobby. We have seen all of Spain several times already. We have stayed at very good 5 star and 4 star hotels (I research all hotels we plan to stay in). I must say that the Kempinsky is one of the best and one of the most beautiful. Yes, I plan to return to this hotel in the future. I have some hints for guests who plan to stay in this hotel. Laguna Village is a small shopping center which one can reach by using the bridge located by the seashore. A very good restaurant in that shopping center is Camuri, with sophisticated mood music and wonderful Spanish and Chinese food. You can take a taxi from the hotel to downtown and it will cost about 9 euros. The Orchid House is a must see and it is the only orchid museum in Spain, with 2700 plants. Estepona calls itself the Garden of the Costa del Sol. Walk along the beautiful paseo maritimo and see all the beautiful flowers there, with signs showing the names of the flowers. The narrow streets downtown are decorated with small colored pots with flowers on the walls, just like the old Andalusian towns.
This hotel represents the Kempinski upscale brand well. Beautiful facilities, great rooms, amazing breakfast! Service is very good but it is clear that they have difficulty finding staff that speaks English (or any other language than Spanish). One is often misunderstood if asking for something but they do their best. Everyone has a positive attitude and is eager to help. Room amenities are great and the rooms themselves are quite large. I would love to be able to give the hotel a 5-star rating but a couple of issues (such as having to move rooms because of an ant infestation next to our bed) prevented me from doing so. Would certainly return though.
We have just returned from a long weekend at this beautiful hotel. I just wish that we had booked for longer. Everything from the rooms, restaurants and bars was just perfect. The staff were outstanding and so friendly. We will definitely return
