"Feel Like At Home (as usual)"
To be at Lancaster London Hotel is one of our most pleasant days we live. Hotel's new refurbished rooms are very nice and the Personnel (from Door to Reception and to Rooms) are very helpful, always. Looking forward for our next trip to London and Royal Lancaster Hotel ... ("new-old" name of the Lancaster london Hotel)
I stayed 6 weeks and felt pampered the entire time. Excellent staff, great rooms. Wonderfull restaurants and afternoon tea. My preferred hotel in London for sure. Thank you Maria from the front desk for everything.
"Location is great"
The views from this hotel are amazing. You can see Wembley, across Hyde Park and from the upper floors, you're basically above everything facing north. The place is undergoing a refurbishment, but don't let that put you off - the rooms have been overhauled and they're uber modern and comfortable. Maybe 7 minutes' walk from Paddington, and directly above Lancaster Gate tube station, the hotel is one minute's walk from Hyde Park.
"Returned to a favorite"
Went back to the Lancaster London as it is in the midst of a huge renovation to end sometime in the autum and once again be the Royal Lancaster London. Stayed in one of their newly finished rooms which was quite sleek and modern with very comfortable beds. Like most hotels that are relying on duvets, the duvets are a bit too warm for normal room temperatures. There isn't much storage space if one wants to unpack for a multi-day stay, but clearly the main target is going to be the business and convention traveler. There is a new drawer with glassware, and other items and the room staff was very good at replacing wine glasses we'd used but less so replacing items in the mini-bar or face cloths in the bathroom. The new bathrooms are wonderful. Walk in showers with both rain shower and hand wand have perfect temperature control. Large fluffy towels wait on the heated towel rack as well as a robe in the closet. The staff of the front desk is as knowledgeable and attentive as always. Currently the various services are operating in temporary spaces with make-shift furnishings which can cause a bit of confusion for staff--an example while we were there was the shift of the temporary lounge bar from the ground floor back up to the second floor into another temporary spot. Great view but the staff of the bar clearly weren't sure where to find things. As for the construction itself the noise does not begin until 9 am. It is fairly well muffled, but constant, as they do total makeover of rooms, windows, and the main entrance. Having sections of the hotel open construction areas can lead to some very chilly hallways and elevator rides. The location is definitely an attraction. It is next to the Lancaster Gate tube station (currently closed for replacing the lifts), across Bayswater Road from Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, and within blocks of several neighborhood pubs and restaurants on either Bathurst or Sussex Place as well as the huge variety over on Queensway. We plan to return in the fall and see the further evolution with the hope that the changes don't ttotally change the character of the hotel we've visited more than a dozen times. It would be a shame for it to regain "royal" at the same time it traded eligance for sleekness.
"Noisy during renovation"
Good location and nice, helpful employees. Have been staying here for years but the current extensive renovations are really noisy especially if you need to stay in the hotel during the day. The hotel have already increased their rates even though the renovations are not completed.. My advice would be to stay at another hotel until the renovations are completed and when you come back dont take a room next to a lift
