"Don't use the bar during mardi gras!!!!"
I cannot speak for the hotel itself but avoid the bar there during Mardi Gras at all costs. The server was testy, the drinks were unbelievably small (barely a sip in the cup) & we were served in plastic cups! I have been to the bar at this time of year in the past & enjoyed it immensely but this past year it was so horrible that I won't visit there again.
"Updated Southern Charm"
Our travels to New Orleans were brought about by the Jazz & Heritage Festival. Online we checked several venues, but what sold us was the roof top pool (and we were not disappointed). Don't be deterred by the "renovation reviews"...they're completed. What a fabulous grand hotel with charming attributes such as a coffee table set up early in the lobby, lobby dispensers offering cool flavored water throughout the afternoon and the ever popular P&J snacks at the close of evening. Our room was fabulous. Everything is fresh and new. The beds are old world style where you can sink into them at the end of the day. The bed linens and towels were fresh and crisp. And, the electronics in the room were up-to-date including fast-chargers. Because we were in town for the Festival, we ate our dinners out of the hotel. We did slide out of bed for breakfast in the Crystal Room. Get the full Breakfast Bar ... the omelettes are generous and will get you through the day. The Staff was amazing, always greeting you to and from the hotel. Even little special requests were always met with positive responses. Le Pavillion absolutely met our expectations and enhanced our week at the Jazz and Heritage Festival.
Exceedingly overpriced! This was a one star hotel, that charged 3-4 star prices! Housekeeping services were terrible. Towels were shabby and frayed. Also the towels were insufficiently stocked and when we requested more towels we never received them. The free coffee was gross. Check-in ladies were nice enough but that is honestly the ONLY thing positive I have to say about this hotel.
Having seen some negative reviews here of the hotel, we kept waiting for something to go wrong or show itself as not-so-good. True, our check in did not go smoothly, as reception were unable to locate our booking at first, but we booked through a lesser known third party who hadn't made our details clear - and we were always treated with respect. In fact, reception apologised to us for the delay, through no fault of their own. We stayed for 5 nights, during which we visited the rooftop pool, and joined the line for 10pm peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We had a fairly solid stay, and I'd like to think that if something was so obviously lacking, we probably would have encountered it. We didn't. In fact, we loved our stay so, so much. The staff are wonderful. So welcoming and warm and professional at every turn. The lobby is gorgeous, with free coffee in the morning, cold water during the day, and hot chocolate at 10pm. The tradition of late night treats should be held on to for as long as possible. It is truly a point of difference with other hotels in the area. The rooms are stunning. Ours was recently renovated, and it was not only visually appealing, the bed was amazing and we both slept very well. Beautiful and comfortable at the same time. One very small gripe from the male member of our party: during the renovations, the toilet was placed too close to a shelf over hanging it, and as such the toilet seat would not stay up by itself, which was inconvenient and a little uncomfortable. This was our second trip to New Orleans, our first time staying at Le Pavillon, but it won't be our last. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at in all of our overseas adventures!
"Lovely Old World feel."
We stayed here the night before catching Amtrak to Washington DC. It is a lovely, old world feel hotel that has a nightly tradition of hot chocolate and and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at 10:00 pm. You'll need to go and here the story of why they have been doing this for years and years.
