"Does not deserve to be a 5 star hotel "
I choose this hotel for its location, which turned out to be the only positive aspect. Upon check in I had a problem with paying with the same card that I booked through booking.com as someone paid the hotel for me, so I asked if they could provide me with a third party payment form but the guy said they did not have this ( I also work in hotels and I know it's possible). He said (his name kimi) that if I did not pay I couldn't get my room key, but he did not offer any alternative (cash, foreign exchange, or withdraw money), very bad attitude for a 5 star hotel. After paying the whole stay upon check-in which I have never seen before unless you want, he said that they had not kong bedroom available even though I booked king bedroom. Also he did not introduce the hotel or where the breakfast room was and the hotel is very big, 3 elevators going to different parts of the hotel. After I came back to my room after a very long day, I noticed that the room I was staying had a door, so I opened it and found water pipes, quite ugly, and should be locked. The bathroom had an old toilet and sink. When I finally was ready to go to bed I found that the bed was dirty!!! So I called front desk and asked to change room, finally the guy agreed and helped me change. When I went to check-out none of the two ladies who where there had the decency to put there eyes up and seeing I was waiting. So I went to the first one who just told her colleague (a foreigner) to do my check out, the young lady didn't even asked how my stay was,if I needed a taxi or anything. This hotel really does not deserve to be a five star hotel, so if you are planning to visit Shanghai you can find better hotels in the area don't waste your money thinking that it's part of Starwood and therefore is good.
although this is dated , it is clean and well managed . The hotel staff are both efficient and focused on customer service. The young guy who managed the taxi rank and ensured your taxi driver knew were they were going was efficient and very conscientious. Check is was somewhat slow but check out was quick , i guess it all depends on the time of day. Lift can be confusing at first as different lift locations go to different floors but you soon get used to the hotels logistics. If you want to go out for a meal or drink there are plenty of options right outside the hotel. As I was a lone traveller I used the club lounge for most of my meals, selections were ok and the team in the lounge were very helpful.
HIGH is what you get. Guestrooms are high up. Stayed on the 53th floor. Got to use the club floor lounge at 44th. All good. Definitely go in on the top lounge for a 360 views. Tips: guestrooms are not big about 430 sq ft.
"Caring Housekeeping Staff Ever"
It was a heartwarming stay i ever had in Shanghai China. The housekeeping lady (秦廷艳， i hope she does not mind i put up her name here) that helped to clean my room daily was such a caring and helpful human being that made me feel like home. Not only she paid attention to all the details in the room to ensure i had a relaxing stay, but also treating me like a friend to take care of me when i was sick due to the weather and air here. Nothing i could offer but thank you so much for being such a caring and kind human being to me.
"The best service and best view in town"
We have been here for 3 days in May 2017. We got an upgrade for a room with "Bund-view". The best room you can imagine. Very spacious, clean and the view was unbeatable! The hotel is located perfectly in the middle of People's Square. The staff was always friendly. The breakfast was fabulous. Nothing you can not get, Chinese and International food, we were perfectly happy. We will definitely come again!
