"Pleasant stay in Chaouen"
We enjoyed our two nights in Chefchaouen and Lina Ryad was a comfortabe home base. The location is good, though it is difficult to find upon arrival, and there is no parking close by. The parking is on the street or in a garage several blocks away. The hotel porters, however, will convey your luggage for you. The staff is friendly, though at times very busy, and service suffered a bit. The breakfast is mostly breads, however they will cook you eggs to your liking. We booked two suites for the four of us, and both were good-sized with access to the terrace/roof - lovely in the evening. The bathrooms were basic but adequate. I think we had the best Moroccon food of our two-week stay at the restaurant just to the left of the hotel, on the left as you enter the street. I don't recall the name of it, but the food was delicious, especially the tangines and the Moroccan soup.
We had a brief stay here to see the Blue Pearl of Morocco. We found the accommodations to be nice and adequate. We enjoyed our blue rooms, the close distance to restaurants and shops and the friendliness of the staff.
Our second riad in Morocco. Charming riad in the old section of town. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly . The room was large and clean. Big bathroom. One concern for people with mobility issues would be the stairs, as there is no lift. The riad has a nice aspect overlooking the town. No hesitation in recommending this riad!
"2nd stop of our Moroccan tour, hostel quality riad prices."
We got here from our amazing stay at Palais Amani in Fes. To say this was disappointing when our travel agent had represented this as a 4-5 Star property, was an understatement. We arrive at 3, the posted check in time, room was not ready so our scheduled guide had to wait with us until it was. Front desk explained three are using putting in fresh towel...we will get back to this point. We had wanted to put our passport in the safe before exploring the city. The safe didn’t work, there was no instruction included, when notified the front desk person nonchalantly used her key to override the safe and unlocked it. So if she can so casually unlock it, why do I even bother' After she had reset it, it still didn’t work, so we gave up. She didn’t stick around to make sure it was all ok, just bolted out of the room. Then the pool is by appointment only, in one hour block. After our tour, we went for a dip, to find the bathrobe and towels they were hustling to put in our room earlier, are all still wet. So gross to put on a wet robe with unknown moisture origin... More bad things to note: 1. The bathroom is teeny tiny, there’s a single bar for four towels. Literally zero room for your toiletries 2. So I moved the decorative flower from the sink area to make room for my toothbrush, to discover stray hair right on the counter from previous guest. Absolutely unacceptable, pet peeve of mine. 3. Our room is above the reception, which is set up around a stair courtyard. The same area also doubled as the dining room. This means every single conversation anyone has at the reception and during dinner echos directly to your room. In addition to the street noise outside. It was a sleepless night. 4. Dudes hustle kif and hasish at the only stair that you must take in order to reach the Riad. Zero security. 5. There are a lot of flies everyone in Morocco, I am not gonna lie. But a dozen of them stayed with us in this room. 6. We asked for a map of the Médina, to get around. The front desk person printed out a fresh one for me...except it is literally blank, it was copied over so many times there are no roads just barely a few names. She did try to highlight the hotel location for me, but it is useless trying to navigate with it. I wish I was joking about the blank map, see attached photo. It was comical Only good thing was the WiFi is the fastest we have experienced yet here in Morocco.
We stayed 3 nights at Ryad Lina and LOVED it. The facility itself is interesting, clean and beuatifully furnished. We loved our very spacious room with a sitting area. Also loved the terrace areas on the roof, where we enjoyed sitting at the end of the day. The breakfasts were delicious. Absolutely nothing even mildly negative to report. Great location. Just one word of caution--Chefchouen is HILLY, and Ryad Lina is on the upper part of a hill, and then our room was up three steep flights of steps. So be prepared to walk steps if you stay there! I also loved the private pool, which was an odd experience, in that you had to book it and then you had this big pool to yourselves, but it was really fun in the evening after a long, hot day. Best of all was the staff. In particular Radia was just a ray of sunshine, with a smile and a cheery word at all times, even when she had worked an intern's hours because of others vacations.
