"Amazing Gem of a Hotel!"
This was our first time staying at a Mandarin Oriental Hotel – our travel agent chose it for our 10 year anniversary. We had a hard time choosing between Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons as we have stayed at a lot of Four Seasons in the past, but haven't stayed at a Mandarin Oriental yet. After our experience, we definitely made the right decision. Although the Mandarin Oriental may not be as fancy looking as the Four Seasons, we preferred staying at the Mandarin Oriental, after seeing both hotels, because it has a lot history to it, being a former monastery - so unique and peaceful. We really liked how it was in a more quieter location, yet walking distance to all the main sites. We ended up walking everywhere (tip: uber is great to use too!). However, what really set the Mandarin Oriental apart and had us impressed was the top notch level of customer service. On our first day of arriving, we ran into Barbaro P., the Manager on duty that day in the hallway. She was warm, welcoming and genuine and really took the time to get to know us, provide context about the hotel and the area, and even personally walked us around the grounds and booked us into the spa. The spa is SO relaxing and I had one of the best massages I've had (and I've had many in the past!) from Lucie...I didn't want it to be over! Barbaro also told us about a great little Italian restaurant off the beaten path (Pastar) where we had our first dinner - the food and service was excellent. Over the course of our stay, Barbaro helped ensure that we had the best experience and made our trip that much more enjoyable. The concierge, Pavel and Vaclav were also genuine, thoughtful and provided top notch service. Pavel booked us at a couple of Michelin star restaurants, and had wonderful recommendations for our other meals (Field Restaurant was our favourite). Vaclar recommended the ballet at the National Theatre which was a sold out event, and ended up getting us centre row tickets by checking on his own time at home for last minute cancellations and purchased them with his own credit card - now that is service for you! We had breakfast at the Spices Restaurant each morning and all the staff were wonderful - an example of this was when one of the servers, Sanja noticed me taking a couple of sips of my husband's orange juice - before I knew it, a full glass of juice appeared just for me. When I was looking for a place to set down my purse, a little stool, magically appeared for me to place it down. The front desk staff, Pavel and others were also so friendly and thoughtful, remembering little things we told them and taking a genuine interest in making sure we had a good time. We also really appreciate the nice little touches the hotel organized for us with our travel agent for our 10 year anniversary such as the rose petals on our bed and the welcome package/treats. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others and hope to come back again in the future when we visit Prague.
"Would stay there again"
Stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is a partly converted monastery, modern and clean inside. It has a small, pleasant bar, and a very nice terrace to eat and drink (weather permitting). The food is Asian fusion, and very good. The location is excellent, as it is 5 minutes walk to Charles Bridge and in to the old town (the bridge is always busy!), however, the hotel is in a quiet location. Everything is what we hoped for and expected, however, what made this hotel stand out was the quality of service and the incredibly friendly nature of all to staff - doorman, concierge, reception area, bar, restaurant. (We found service friendly through Prague, and definitely worth a visit)
"Perfect first stay in Prague"
We chose this hotel for our first visit to Prague as part of a British Airways flight + hotel package and were not disappointed. From the personal airport pick up the service throughout our stay was excellent. The concierge managed all our restaurant bookings at great venues in the city and even got us tickets for the ballet at the National Theatre. We used the Spices restaurant on the first night the menu divided into Asian regions was easy to use and the food very good quality. Room service breakfast was a treat but once again all arrived on time, complete and beautifully presented. We will return to Prague again and the Mandarin Oriental will be our first choice.
