"Convenient location and a pleasant London stay"
I stayed at the Copthorne at Chelsea Football Club on 16th and 17th October. The hotel is of a good standard, and whilst it’s further out than I’d normally select for business, the journey into central London is easy (Fulham Broadway tube station is very close by, or on a sunny morning it’s quite a pleasant 45 minute walk to Victoria). There was quite a lot of security at the entrance to the ground - bag checks - which I believe was in advance of a major football match on 18th, but this wasn’t a problem at all. Nice breakfast - it’s cheaper to book breakfast at reception when you check-in than in the morning in the restaurant (not sure about cost of breakfast when you book the hotel online). The hotel is popular with international tourists as there were a couple of large groups at breakfast, but again this presented no problems, as the hotel had lots of staff on duty in the restaurant for breakfast. It’s the second time I’ve stayed at the football club, and I would definitely stay again (not a football fan!).
"Upgrade Club Room"
I purposely upgraded my room to a club room. The Club Room itself is nothing to write home about, in other hotels, there is a variety of drink and food options, not in this one. The hotel room looks great superficially, but the bathroom shower has mold, as well as the shower curtain. Our room came with breakfast, nothing great about it. Our daughter lives in London and came for breakfast 2 of the mornings and the cost for her breakfast was 16 pounds, a lot for what they offer.
"It was fine"
We needed a place in Chelsea for a weekend and this was a reasonable price. It's only a few minutes walk from Fulham Broadway tube. Initial impressiosn weren't geat due to the zealous security chappie who clearly assumes everybody wants to plant a bomb but his colleagues were OK. The reception was good and the room was a good size with a riculously large bed. Everything was OK except that the lighting was dull and with the typical beige/brown decor you see in chain hotels it's a tad depressing. We only had breakfast in the 'healthy' option place, service was good there. Overall we'd stay again if we had to be in this area.
"Great location but very average rooms"
We chose the hotel for its location as it’s very close to tube and buses and all the amenities of Fulham Broadway. We were very disappointed with the room though. We had to change from the first room as it did smell of smoke and then pay for an upgrade because the standard family room was very poor. The new room was only slightly better, outdated, carpeted, dirty, no proper shower, in bathtub with shower curtain and no pressure etc etc. Would only recommend it for its location.
"Average rooms, Overpriced Car parking, Restaurant food poor"
Taking the Family to London to see the sights was made easy by the hotel location. After hiring a car and parking it at the hotel, there was no discounted price for hotel guests. After parking the car for 2 and a bit days, our bill was £108 which is just over $200 USD. This was a complete joke and somewhat insulting to its guests. The restaurant just outside the hotel served food very late and cold making service hard to understand for the prices they was asking for. If you want to get value for money, I would suggest a better hotel and paying for that little bit more to get the better service. Disappointed considering this is a hotel in partnership with a very wealthy club of Chelsea FC.
