"Not the very best Amsterdam has to offer, but then again, not the worst either. Decent place to stay/sleep."
First all, be very careful which NH Hotel you book in Amsterdam. There are many of them. We inadvertently booked the wrong one. But no worries here is the review for the one we stayed in. So this review is for NH City Center Amsterdam. The basic room we had, was too small. So we went and got it upgraded to a bigger room. (Yes, we had to pay for it). The hotel is very nicely located. City Center it is. A short walk puts you in the shopping district. Restaurants - well - they are all around you. Taxis don't come to the hotel as this street is narrow, so you can either order a taxi (highly recommend you download the taxi app) or use Uber. There are plenty of places to eat around us. The public transportation is about 100 meters away. The room itself was very cozy, and the heating was adequate (it could have been better). As we were on the street level, the noise sometimes can get to you (but only if you are not a city dweller). The amenities - well the only complain was the Nespresso machine. Which refuses to punch the coffee sachet. When complained, even the staff could not make it work. Rather than replacing it - they suggested we 'order' coffee from the restaurant and pay for it. This was the wrong answer (IMHO) and the only reason why I downgraded them. The internet in the hotel was so-so. Nothing spectacular. I was so disappointed by the internet speeds. The cleanliness was okay. Nothing spectacular, another thing, if you ask them to make the room outside their regular cleaning hours, they will just tidy up the bed (not change sheets) and do the bathroom (replace towels ONLY). No dustbins are cleaned, no room is vacuumed no paper on the floor is picked up. Very disappointed at this. It is as if they were punishing you. The breakfast was VERY nice. What I love about the breakfast is that everything is labeled. I mean EVERYTHING is labeled, a rarity since I go to many hotels. It was had a nice friendly staff, however, because the rooms were small - I would stay here only if I could not find another place in town. For the money, you can find a better deal.
"Good location and comfy"
Hotel is well located for central Amsterdam, and is comfy and well equipped. On the downside - checkin took FOREVER! Every guest seemed to be being asked to fill in reams of paperwork with details the hotel should already have had from the bookings, and the staff were moving at sloth-like pace. Breakfast is also a complete rip off at 18 or 19 euros - that’s just crazy. It was an okay selection but nowhere near special enough to justify such an extortionate price. Overall - acceptable, but I’m sure there are other equally good options in the area. Probably would not choose to come back.
We stayed at this hotel for five nights. The hotel is located close to Dam Square, the Singel Canal and many restaurants yet it is not overly crowded with people and tourists. It's a good balance between a convenient and a laidback location. The hotel itself is clean and the staff are helpful. There is a small "shop" in the lobby where one can purchase drinks and snacks and a restaurant where the breakfast buffet, included in the hotel rate, is also served. The buffet had a good selection of breakfast staples. The room was a bit small but with sufficient storage for clothes, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was very clean with all the amenities.... nothing fancy but nothing to complain about either. A word of caution: access to the lobby is not handicap-friendly. There are steps to reach the lobby with no one to assist with luggage. Fortunately in our case, we had help from the driver who picked us up at the airport. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
Came to the hotel on my BD, did not receive any wishes or complements from the hotel.... Were given room number 255, tiny with awful view to the courtyard( good location, that's it.... Expensive breakfasts, unfriendly stuff. Will not reccomend
I would like you to have a more balanced room, I do not think it's achievable in that space.; breakfast was perfect, as well as staff and food.at reception you have very helpful staff;Pleasant the exit to the canal behind the hotel
