"Very nice hotel"
Not a 5 star I would say but very nice all the same, the food was excellent an the view from the outside tables was perfect with a glass of red! Think they are used to suited business types an we generated a lot of funny looks walking around in shorts I would recommend this hotel to anyone! We paid £137 for 3 nights per couple an we’re happy to have a soak in the bath after 5 days hiking in the tatra mountains haha The walk from the hotel following the river at night was so romantic !
"Nice hotel, not 5 Star"
Stayed here recently for a 3 night city break. The hotel room was clean but had a very uncomfortable bed. Our room faced the river which was nice and the shower was very good. Breakfast was in the restaurant on the 3rd floor and was good but the hot food was always just warm and on one day cold as they had forgot to plug in the food trays. All staff were very helpful. Ate one night in the Italian restaurant which was good A fifteen minute walk along the river to the town. Nice hotel but compared to other 5 star places I have stayed in throughout the world this not a 5 star establishment.
"Boutique Hotel but serious need for improvement"
Lovely hotel with modern design near the river. Unfortunately, if you are on the ground floor you won't see the river as there is a high wall between the hotel and the river! Also, the hotel is not exactly near the town so you need to get a taxi into town for everything. We had 2 double rooms. One for my wife and I, and one for my 83 year old mum. Both were on the ground floor but the ground floor is slightly raised up 5 steps so not disabled friendly as my mum could not easily get up the steps especially as there are no handrails on these steps nor was there a handrail on the 10 steps to the restaurant. Also, there are no double duvets! A double bed, yes - but two single thin duvets! Never heard of that. During the night they are hard to keep together so you end up with a gap ... and cold! A bit like the breakfast. All looked lovely but at best luke warm. Very dangerous with eggs and meat products like bacon. When I asked the waitress and manager why the "hot" food was not hot they just shrugged their shoulders. This would fail a basic food hygiene audit and when I asked them to bring me a temperature probe to prove it was not hot enough to keep hot food to prevent dangerous bacteria (63 degrees C) they said the hotel kitchen did not have a probe!! We just had fruit and bread after that, not wanting to risk food poisoning. Very bad. Also, they completely closed the restaurant on Saturday night for a wedding party without informing the hotel guests in advance! Very poor communication.
"Outside the old city"
There are 2 hotels with the same name , same reception and same restaurant. One is 5*on the right side and the other 3* on the left side (at the same address). I stay in the 3* hotel. The hotel is outside the old city ( at the last tram stop) and too far away from the railway station. The room is very small, there isn’t a lift ( for the 3* one), no safety box, no A/C. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast (for a 3* hotel , but moderate for the 5* criteria) . You can ask at the reception for an umbrella ,if it is raining.
Clean, modern , comfortable room with flat screen TV, shower, plenty of towels, free toiletries, beverages and complimentary water. The only downside was that it faced the road which wasn't a problem with closed windows but could be noisy if you wanted to have the windows open. We liked the position out of the main centre as it was a pleasant 15 minute walk along the riverbank to Wawel Castle or you could get one of the trams which stopped near the hotel - cheap compared to UK standards. The breakfast was good standard European fare serving hot and cold food, pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt. It is served in the lovely restaurant on the 3rd floor which has an outdoor balcony so nice in warm weather. The linked Italian restaurant was good value. You can have one hour free use of the spa but with so much to see and do in Krakov there was no time to make use of this facility. The staff were very helpful booking restaurants, taxis , finding info etc. Would definitely stay here again. Good value.
