"Sleeping on the floor in 'luxury'"
Firstly - the negatives: Long story short, we had a booking for a 5th bed to be set up in our two bedroom apartment. This was not done upon our arrival. Staff brought up a mattress and it was set up on the floor with a promise to bring a bed base the following night. This was annoying and not what we paid for but, ultimately, the staff were trying to be helpful after their booking office failed to book properly. The hotel itself was not too bad. It was not luxury as the photos online depicted. the curtains were stained (appeared to be blood) and the supplied kitchen items were dirty in the cupboards. The elevators were not programmed properly (not that i'm an expert on elevator sequences but, it seems to me that when one elevator goes up, the other should come down). We would be waiting in the foyer for about 10 minutes whilst both elevators went up to the top floor and appeared to stop at almost every floor on the way up, and then again on the way down. Car parking was not included in the hotel room price. We paid an additional $25 to park the car. The parking lot was extremely tight. I drive a Toyota Prado and found it nerve racking winding along the road and trying not to hit any walls. Even a smaller sedan that was behind me was having trouble. Now for the positives: The location of the hotel was very convenient. It was within walking distance to the MCG and plenty of cafe's and restaurants. We cooked breakfast one morning and were running late for our plans. We decided to tidy the kitchen and leave the dishes next to the sink to clean when we returned. Room service had cleaned our dishes for us. Overall: I probably wouldn't go back but, if it was the only hotel available and if it was the right price, I would.
We got a great deal with a scoopon. The apartment was great for the price, approx $125 a night. It is not worth the regular $200 a night. The bathroom is old, with the awful shower over the bath. It is not serviced. It is in a fantastic location to see the Book of Mormon, but it is at the top edge of town, so not really walkable if you are older, but the tram and train (Parliament) is just around the corner.
We had a three night stay in Melbourne. Oaks on Lonsdale was the perfect location - close to lots of great restaurants and to the circle tram line. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. Nothing seemed to be a problem. Room was large with fantastic views towards the river from Level 28.
"Spacious, comfortable , well located"
We stayed at the Oaks for 3 nights in a visit to Melbourne , & found it suited our needs perfectly ...... Our 1 bedroom apartment was spacious & comfortable, equipped with everything we could possibly need ..... A well equipped kitchen with full cooktop & dishwasher ( we didn't cook there... Only prepared breakfasts ) but easily could have .... Full size fridge... Plenty of room .. A combo washer/ dryer in the bathroom .... A comfortable lounge area with a table & chairs for dining .... King size bed... Very comfy with extra pillows & blanket provided . The apartment is air conditioned , but there is a sliding door to a small balcony, for fresh air too . The apartment was scrupulously clean, & serviced daily . My only criticism , is that the bathroom design is quite poorly planned , with a half shower screen over a full size bath which made it impossible e to shower without getting water all over the floor ..... This also made it very slippery to get in/ out of the bath in order to shower .... A shower recess with full screen would be much more efficient & safer . Being located at the top,of Lonsdale st ( close to Spring st ) made it very easy to walk to anywhere in the city centre, & both Metro& Tram stops were just 5 mins from the front door . Parking was good... Our car stayed safe in the secure garage for the 3 days we were there. & was well worth the $25/ day parking fee .
"Location, Location, Location"
Perfectly located in the heart of Melbourne cbd in real estate parlance, this serviced apartment served its purpose very well. Everything was either within walking distance or within the free fare zone for public transport. The kitchen is great for self catering simple meals like breakfast. The only thing that we could fault is the bathroom. There was no separate toilet. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay & would return again.
