"Not worth the $$"
The two bedroom 2 bath with balcony we booked was apparently booked out we booked months ahead and as we had not travelled to Melbourne before we hoped the location we good the pictures of rooms was great and more costly than others we assumed it was as pictured as we were travelling for a special birthday we thought it was worth the cost for a little luxury I was very disappointed on arrival the apartment was only 1 bathroom and the balcony was tiny with only two chairs ok view if you stretch right but the second bedroom was the worst the door could not open fully as it hit the bed making it hard to use the left side of the bed and fear the glass in the door may shatter when I opened it not expecting it to hit anything on opening but this room had no windows making it feel like a prison more the a hotel room the shower/bath is very high and would be very unsuitable for elderly or those with knee problems ect but the only thing is the location was good
"Good location, comfortable place"
We recently spend a few days at the Oaks in a 1BR apartment - the location was great and having a kitchen made a big difference us. The apartment itself was spacious and sufficient though not especially lush as the furniture is pretty basic. A word of caution: if you want wifi access while there, be sure to book a package that includes as it's otherwise very expensive.
"Convenient, reliable, clean, spacious"
Serviced apartments at the parliament end of the CBD. I have stayed here several times for work. The rooms are fairly spacious, comfortable and clean and most have good views. The staff are always pleasant. On the downside, the lift can be very slow at peak times and the swipe cards are frustrating (deactivated in last visit). Despite having stayed here many times, there is no sense of familiarity or recognition by staff... even a basic CRM for regular guests would be sensible to give a sense of welcome. As with most hotels, the lighting in the bathroom is useless for actually looking at your face if you want to put on makeup.
"Spacious CBD apartment, but a few serious issues."
For the price you pay you get a generously sized apartment right in the CBD. This true 1 bedroom apartment is substantially bigger than the average residential 1 bedroom apartment and has plenty of storage space and a good large bed. Countless restaurants, shops and public transport options are just a short walk away. The apartment does however come with quite a few issues. The traffic noise is to be expected in the city, but what’s worse is the constant resonating of the movement of the elevators throughout the building (and our room was furthest away from the elevators). Something is seriously wrong here and major maintenance is over due! Also the rooms are a bit tired with cheap materials; the couch is hardly useable as it provides less support than a bean bag. The water pressure in the shower is very low and it takes long to get warm water (forget about hot water). Security is a bit lacking, as everyone can get to your floor level and the rooms can not be locked from the inside. On the bright side, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
"Perfect Weekend Away"
We enjoyed a weekend in Melbourne and stayed at Oaks on Lonsdale. The location was absolutely perfect - close to Chinatown, shopping and transport. Our one bedroom apartment was actually huge (full kitchen) - with a big balcony overlooking the city that gave us a very beautiful view at night. The room was very clean and the bed super comfortable. Staff were very helpful and friendly and always had a smile for us at reception. They had no problems in answering any questions and helping us book the Sky Bus Hotel Transfer. I will look to book again for my next trip to Melbourne - can't fault it!
