Strong smell of sewage in room. Staff is very friendly but this doesn't make up for the room smelling like human waste for the entirety of our stay. We notified the front desk and they provided us with air freshener, hopefully at no extra charge...
"City break in Amsterdam"
Having booked through Expedia, the hotel and transfers were first class, they were very efficient, the room at the back was quiet and well appointed with a comfortable bed and pillows, having an open bathroom was strange, you had to be very comfortable with your partner to have a toilet and shower in the corner of the room with opaque walls and a curtain in place of a wall, the staff were helpful and cheerful, the hotel was in the museum district five minutes from the Riksmuseum, now to Amsterdam itself, the city is full of stunning buildings, the canal cruise is worth doing,a trip to the countryside is fascinating seeing windmills and crafts, food and drink is not cheap but what city is,smoking is a big thing there, with fag-ends everywhere, having a meal outside is accompanied by smoke unfortunately,BUT my biggest memory of Amsterdam is bicycles, amsterdammers are very pleasant and nice, until they get on a bike, then they become monsters with attitude, taking their bikes anywhere, not only on their own lanes, but,on the pavements, roads, squares, shouting at you to get out of their way, your head had to be on a swivel watching for these maniacs,i loved Amsterdam but i would not go back because of being unable to relax on the streets,i almost forgot the free walking tour with Remmie as our guide,he and it was excellent
"Strategic position and comfortable"
The price is honest considering the position q few meters far from the city center and Vondelpark. Breakfast is ok and the staff is helpful and caring. I like the modern environment and the rooms which are comfortable and with a nice view over Leidseplein area
Basically, I’d booked a package through Expedia for flight and hotel – something I don’t usually do. It is clear the hotel just then allocate you the least attractive rooms - I will not be doing it again. Check-in: slow, even after what would be usual arrival time. Rooms: In terms of décor, cleanliness and comfortable bed I can’t fault it. But where did the idea come from that the bathroom should be part of the bedroom by having separate toilet and shower cubicles with a heated floor between them and the bed' I think just to make money and have an extra room or two on each floor. Unbelievable for a 4 star hotel. Breakfast quality was fine but pricey. The area though is too small for the hotel size at peak time and not laid out very well – lots of people getting in one another’s way. Having to get your own instant coffee from a machine – again more cost saving, less service - very budget hotel. Location is great near the museums and the park adjacent well worth a stroll around and a coffee. Check out: Efficient but disinterested whether I’d enjoyed my stay of not - probably staff looking at the package booking on the system. Overall: ok (average at best), unlikely to return.
"Can't get a Facecloth without special request!"
My husband and I visited June 10-14. We had an upgraded executive room. The room was very nice, clean and the hotel was a good location. My complaint is regarding the housekeeping service. No facecloths! Only 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels. We had to make a special request for a facecloth; and every day we were there we had to re-request to get a facecloth. One person from housekeeping told us they were only available to some of the rooms - really' Even though I had an upgraded room' Ridiculous - cheap...god forbid they should provide you with an extra towel, let alone facecloths. Also, our friends (who were not in an upgraded room) received 2 free wine vouchers...we did not and had to ask for them. You would think I had asked for gold - they wanted to know what room our friends were in and what room we were in before they handed over 2 wine vouchers. These 2 experiences left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
