"Decent Business Hotel"
I went to Cologne for a weekend break. This is really a business hotel but it's pretty good. Room was spacious and well fitted out. No tea or coffee facilities, however. There were no room safes, either - these were all in the lobby, which was a bit different but I suppose a bit more secure as well. The location isn't that central - it's about a 20 minute walk to the Heumarkt, near the river - but there is a U-Bahn stop nearby and this runs straight into the centre. Value for money for the room was good, but the cost to add on breakfast was pretty extortionate. The breakfast is a hot & cold buffet - nice, but not worth what they were charging. Also, the prices for drinks at the bar were pretty hefty, and considerably higher than in most of the pubs around Heumarkt and Rudolfplatz. Overall, this was a decent hotel but they get you on the extras.
"Easter weekend break."
I stayed here during a Easter weekend break as i had not visited Germany before and i have always wanted to. I do know a girl who lives in Cologne so maybe that swayed my decision somewhat ;-). The hotel is situated west of the town centre and a short taxi drive which i think cost me around 12 euros, or approx 30-40 minute walk which i preferred as you take in the street vibes, people, shops...etc. The tram stop is only 5 minutes walk away and is the Universtrasse stop and you can catch the number 1 or 7 into Cologne. I was in room 117 and backed onto a quiet parking area but you could hear traffic on the main road if you listened hard....but not too bad. The room was very clean and the bathroom was well fitted and spotless. Everything worked in the room....lights, door slides, tv, draws etc, and there were no visible signs of wear and tear. The bed was very comfy and sleep was no problem. Breakfast was expensive....23 euros, you can get 3 for that price in our country. I had no bother with the breakfast as i do not eat what the continentals eat ( meats, cheeses, fruit...etc...etc ), as there was bacon, sausages, tomatoes and any kind of eggs that you wanted plus cereals and toast so us British are well catered for in that department :-). There were several choices of tea also as i am not a heavy coffee drinker and there was a very helpful young dark haired girl who was very helpful in that breakfast room. I requested an iron and ironing board an hour after i checked in and within 20 minutes that was delivered to my room which i appreciated :-). The wi-fi is simple to set up and costs nothing and there is a free safe at the reception for putting in your monies, documents etc....etc. The staff were polite and helpful and spoke good English and i could not fault them. If i ever go back to Cologne again i would gladly stay here again no bother. So, cleanliness and manners and politeness go a long way with me and this hotel was bang on. Enjoy Cologne. :-).
"Simple no feeling hotel"
Very basic hotel, not worth the money. Check inn with no soul, rooms basic, no tea or coffee in the room. Dont stay here, go somewhere else. Next yo the road, parking is easy. Only if you get it for 50 euros you should take it. Place with no soul.
"Great hotel for one night. "
Our stay at the hotel was pretty good. We arrived early and they took our cases for us so we could go off into Cologne without luggage. We drove to the hotel and there's plenty of parking, for one night it only cost 18€. It was a reasonably walk into the city centre, about half an hour, although this wasn't a problem as the weather was great for us! I had booked a double room but was given a single, as we were only staying for one night it wasn't really an issued, but I definitely would have had in changed had we stayed longer.
"Confortable and modern stay close to the tram"
I've stayed in this hotel for business purposes and it served the purpose well. The hotel has some advantages: the room is modern, has free WiFi of good quality in all areas, although not very stable, modern furniture, TV with international channels, the staff speaks good English, the breakfast is complete and of good quality. The position is not as good as easily walking to the Cathedral, but close to the tram (a few minutes walk) as to reach the Neumarkt station at the third stop or the Rudolfplatz station at the second stop. The Rudolfplatz station has good connections, including to the airport and the Neumark station is at a busy pedestrian area with lots of shops, places to eat and drink and close to the famous Cathedral in Cologne. What I didn't like about this hotel is that it had a bottle of 1 liter water in the room costing 4 euros and I've seen in the fridge in the lobby water at 500 ml costing also 4 euros, if I'm not mistaking. I would have appreciated some free water in the room and cheaper one at the reception lobby. The room could have used a small fridge. I appreciate the carpet though and the nice small desk next to the TV. So I would recommend this hotel for the proximity to the tram station, modern look, comfortable stay, good services and complete breakfast.
