The pools are fun! Most anything you need to have a great time is free-range except the beers of course! Great place to enjoy family and kids. They even had a movie in the pool. The rooms are a little outdated- but just spend more time in the pool! Hole in the wall was good - very friendly.
lazy river was underwhelming. Too many people jammed into pool area. Not relaxing in the least. Parking spots were very narrow. Struggled getting in and out of car. The facility felt dated to me. I was disappointed for the amount of money we spent
"Very good hotel"
Very good resort for price/Value. Kids were very happy. Service personnel very well train. Pool area needs improvement; floor is not clean (recommend expansion to allow confortable enjoyment of the pool)
We have mixed feelings on this resort, but mixed enough that we most likely won't return based on personal preference. Our check in process was easy and quick and we were able to check in early which was nice. We booked a casita, and were pleased to find out that our casita was right in front of a smaller pool and figured we would be able to relax in that smaller pool rather than fighting the crowds at the larger pools. We drove to our building and weren't able to park in our designated parking spot because the two other casitas that shared parking with us had cars double parked. Our spot was in the middle and because the spots on both sides were double parked we couldn't squeeze our car in so we ended up parking on the street which was annoying. Upon entering our casita it was clear that they allow pets on the property and in the rooms, it was like walking into Petsmart. The room was clean it was just the overwhelming smell of a room that has had dogs in it and been cleaned. The casita had a small kitchen, a dining table, a 1/2 bath downstairs, two couches and a TV. Upstairs was a king bed, a chase lounge chair and a bathroom. There was also a small patio that two chairs fit sideways on. We checked out the pool that was right outside our door and apparently someone was celebrating their child's birthday and had rented a casita and had about 8 kids in the pool, all under 10. Lots of noise, screaming and parents disciplining (no running, no jumping etc.). We could hear all this commotion all day long from our living room of the casita through the door that faced the small pool. That was disappointing as we were expecting a quiet get away from our own children. We headed over to the main pools to eat lunch and relax in the lazy river. We had lunch at Slim Pickings and just ate at the bar. The staff at Slim pickings and the pool in general were wonderful. We had excellent customer service from the time we walked in the pool area. Our lunch was yummy and so were our drinks. We then spent the afternoon in the lazy river. All the pools were packed and it was hard to find even one chair to put our stuff on. We do recommend you go to the tombstone area that seems to be off the beaten path and less people walk all the way over there. There were plenty of empty chairs over there, the only draw back was there is no entry to the lazy river from here (unless you just jump in). Servers do walk over that way, so you can order food and drink if you'd like. Early evening we ate dinner at Hole in the Wall and enjoyed BBQ. It was yummy and again the service was top notch. They were playing a movie by the pool which was nice. By the time we got back to our room (about 8:30) the kids from the birthday party were gone from the pool and in their room so it was nice to have the quiet. Overall our stay was nice. It was very crowded, it's a very family oriented place which is nice, but there are also a lot of people that drink heavily, which at times could be overwhelming. There were a few times on the lazy river where there were groups of adults (around 8-10) all pretty intoxicated and loud floating around. We received several text messages from the staff throughout our stay asking if we needed anything which was a nice touch. Overall for us I think it was just too many people, too many drunk people, and a large resort which makes it difficult to get around when it's 114 degrees out. In the future we will probably stick with a smaller resort, but that is our personal preference. The resort overall was clean, the staff all around had wonderful customer service. I think the things we didn't care for were personal preference.
My family and I have been staying at Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort for years. Every time we've been we have loved it and have always had a great time. There is a beautiful and exciting "Hole in the Wall River Ranch" with a lazy river, a giant pool, waterfalls, a sports pool, a mini golf course, and a slide. This destination has always been a favorite for my family, but this is the first time we've been in years. We were expecting the same amazing experience as before, but this was not the case. Before we even checked in, my family and I pulled up to the front area so that we could check in. One of us went in to check in and the rest of stayed in the car. Soon, a worker came over and told us, not politely, "You have to move your vehicle! You're blocking my door!" First of all, we were not blocking the door. Second of all, is that any way to treat a guest, especially one who has been driving for six hours' I don't think so! We complied with his instructions but were perturbed with his angry and rude attitude. Immediately upon arriving at our room, it felt like we had never left. The furniture was all the same. It was dirty and rundown. The room itself was dusty and the ceiling had water stains. After a looong day of travel, we decided to relax and watch some television. However, when we turned on the TV, it was static. We tried another channel - static. We tried another channel - static. Again and again, we kept trying and trying, and every channel was static. Soon afterward we tried to access the resort's wifi, but it was also not working. Upon calling the front desk, they notified us that the wifi and TV were both down. Our family would have liked to have known of the TV and wifi problems upon our arrival, versus finding out once we got into our room. The front desk notified us that the problem would be fixed as soon as possible, and gave us a $25 resort credit, but if the wifi and TV issue were affecting everyone then shouldn't everyone get a credit' We went to sleep with open minds, hoping that tomorrow would be better. Our family got up bright and early to arrive at the "Hole in the Wall River Ranch", excited for the day ahead. The TV and wifi still weren't working, and we wondered if they would ever work. Nevertheless, we went to the pool to find that they had replaced the old white faded chairs with brand new wicker ones. The umbrellas were also replaced. We were happy to see the new changes but soon realized that the rest of the "Hole in the Wall River Ranch" still had some issues. The tile throughout all of the pools was falling apart. It looked awful and you could see the gross and dirty wall that the tile was once on. The lazy river's tile was also falling apart, and the jets that pumped water into the lazy river weren't working. This made the lazy river more like a parking lot river as the water didn't move at all. We had to manually push ourselves as there was no current to do that for us. Service was interesting. The woman at the towel hut and the man and woman at the service hut were all silent, only saying an occasional "hello", "ok", or something like that. I understand that the temperature was over 100 degrees, but at least try to act like you have a job in customer service and TALK TO THE CUSTOMER! The wifi and TV finally worked the second night of our stay, but we were still upset that it had taken a whole day and a half to fix the TV and wifi. Overall, our trip to Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort was nothing compared to our former visits. We were very disappointed with the lack of customer service and how old the resort looked. The pool and rooms were practically falling apart. Being a Hilton Honors Member who stays at Hilton hotels frequently, I expected more from this hotel. Hilton has been known for its great and friendly service, but this resort is definitely lacking in that. I don't know if my family and I will be staying at Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort again, which is actually quite sad because my family and I have so many fun and happy memories from this resort.
