"Perfect for French Concession Area"
The hotel is located in a quiet corner of the former French concession area. The nearest two metro stations may only be 650m and 1km away from the hotel but those distances translate to a brisk 15 mins walk to line 10 Jiaotong University and 20 mins to line 2 Jiangsu Lu respectively. That aside, I actually loved the location of the hotel. There were tons of cafes, restaurants and massage places nearby. I barely took the metro, preferring to explore the French concession area by foot. I would recommend cabbing if you want to venture further. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room is big and it has everything one needs, including kettle and ironing board. Would stay there again!
"Layout and location not great for us "
We had stayed in other areas during previous visits to Shanghai and wanted to stay in the French Concession this trip. We would stay in the French Concession again, but not at this hotel. The location wasn't great unless taking a taxi and we prefer walking and the metro. I was annoyed that the hotel grounds took up the entire block and were gated requiring that we exit awkwardly through incoming traffic and in a direction that was often out of the way. The courtyard was large, but offered very little in terms of a place to walk or sit. It's primary use appeared to be large events such as weddings. There were a few nice cafes within walking distance and a great restaurant across the street. There were also nice green spaces not too far away. We enjoyed the city view from the 9th floor (as seen in the photos). The fitness room was impressive, lots of cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights, a stretching area and a great view. Treadmills needed maintenance. We were there for four nights and there were some minor irritating details about the hotel, but the location and layout were the reason that we would not stay here again.
"Professional and friendly"
The Radisson Blu Plaza Xingguo Hotel is a wonderful hotel for a stay in Shanghai. The rooms are very pleasant and large, with all that one would need. The hotel facilities are very good, with the dining being of good quality, but assisted by friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is in a calming garden setting in the gracious, historical and interesting French Concession area of Shanghai. The short walk to the metro enables one to take in many sights and experiences. The local area is worthy of time spent there, let alone the other sights of Shanghai. A very good hotel for your stay.
"Oasis in the middle of Shanghai"
First impression is you are entering into sort of country club then you feel history surrounding you. Definitely a great place to stay for business with high value to relax. It is not just the ushual five star hotel but an establishement with a special touch yet still modern in appearance.
"Excellent international hotel"
We stayed here for two nights before going on a cruise. We had a Plaza Club room so very nice view of the park/gardens down below and the city. The price included free transport from the airport to the hotel and it worked perfect although our flight was several hours delayed. The person who greeted us at the airport and took us to the car was very nice and so was the driver. Recommended for anyone who has travelled far to get to Shanghai. Very nice hotel with excellent staff. Some language difficulties but nothing that was not solved. When we checked in we were informed of the Plaza Club being closed during the time we stayed there. It was very disappointing and something I would have appreciated to be informed about in advance. They did their best to accomodate us with free evening drinks etc. in the lobby bar which was okay but of course not the experience we had expected. The room was very nice with comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. Felt very luxurious. Loved the tea cups! Internet worked fine. Breakfast was included in the price of the room and it had everything you could want and more. Very busy though so not a very relaxing start of the day. We did eat dinner in the restaurant and it was fine although a bit expensive as most hotel restaurants. Very nice staff there as well and not so busy. The hotel helped us to arrange the transport to the cruise ship. It was rather expensive but totally worth it and something I would consider doing again. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I ever come back to Shanghai.
