Stopped in for drinks at the bar. Very very weird place but in a good way! Really enjoyed our visit, drinks were good but service was extremely slow. We’re on vacation so no biggy! Recommended it to many people we met on vacation to check out for a drink just to see the weird decor!
"9 days in Reina Roja : very nice"
Very plaisant place. Cleaning is very well done every day. Decoration is unusual and appreciable comparing to the hotels of the same category in Playa that seem have been made by the same architect. And people are very nice, always there for your confort. Breakfast is ok, large choice of meals and served until 12. The best wifi ever, works even in the streets around the hotel. Special thanks to Atreyu for his kindness at the pool ! we definitely will come back 🇲🇽! Ludovic
We spent 4 days at the hotel for the very first time. It was incredible from the beginning. Place is completely different but amazing. Highly recommended for couples and friends. Great location, close to 5th Ave and beach!
"Not everything is as it seems"
- The staff was really friendly and helpful! - The wi-fi was fine - The location of the hotel is close to the 5th avenue and the beach However....there were some issues - On the pics it looks like an enormous pool on the roof but it is in fact only a few inches deep. Not for swimmimg! - We booked a room for three people (what we always did during the time we travelled around Mexico. We had always 2 double beds with lots of space). But in this hotel we got a room with two beds roughly 120 cm (47.2 inches) wide. This was different on the pics...so I would not recommend booking a three bed room, because it is definitely only a room for 2 people. Talking to the manager about this issue was senseless. - Breakfast is limited to different egg dishes...not worth it the price paid - The hotel is quite dark (only red lights)
"Interesting and unique hotel 1/2 block off 5th Ave"
The Reina Roja very unique and unlike any hotel I'd ever been to, or even seen. It stands out off 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen because of its exposed plant covered Terraces backlit by strange red lights. We arrived by cab, and unfortunately the cab dropped us off on the north side of the hotel, but the north entrance was inaccessible (covered by fishnet), so we had to walk around the block to the entrance on the southside. Checkin was fast and friendly. We were walked to our room on the 3rd floor, but it wasn't explained to us that the key card has to be left inserted in a little slot in the wall in order for the lights to stay on. The room was clean. Lots of interesting lighting options. We couldn't ever get the hot water to work in the shower or sink. The balcony was nice, but half of it was taken up with a maniquen. We could hear loud (and I mean LOUD) music (from 5th Ave') until after 1am, even with the heavy blackout curtains closed. Breakfast in the morning was slow and haphazard.
