Hotel has one elevator and Lord help you if you don't ask for a room close to the elevators. Harbor view rooms are $50 extra. My room had a refrigerator and real glass cups. The TV was massive. The room has a safe that should have been secured to the particle board drawer. But had been pulled out. One of the arms of the desk chair look liked it had been chewed on by a dog. Parking is convenient but $30 a day.
"Location, Location, Location"
The hotel itself is an old dinosaur but you can't beat the location. From M & T Bank Stadium to Camden to the Aquarium it's all walkable from this hotel. Dining and drinking options are also plentiful and within walking distance. I also found it odd that the pool level courtyard closes at 10.
"Great Location, Clean and Basic"
This hotel is in a great location, is clean but in need of a long overdue makeover. The decor and party theme are very dated. Also, the staff need training and polish. On May 20, 2017, at about 3:45 in the afternoons, I had to call to get a receipt for a previous stay. The customer service representative handling the call was very competent. However there was someone else listening on the call, coaching the representative who did not announce their presence to me. I don't think they realized that they were not muted. I knew they were there because they were chewing very loudly on chips and coaching in an unprofessional manner. This behavior was annoying and distracting. I expect a different class of service from the Renaissance.
"Basic Downtown Hotel"
I stayed here for a conference. The hotel is clean, but worn/dated and in much need of a make over. It has a "loud" party theme that has passed it's prime. They need to tone down the loud music in the lobby. The elevators need to be free of the intense fluorescent party lights and the loud music. Other than my room, it was hard to find peace and quiet. I also think that since the hotel over looks the harbor, it could stand to update the decor and amenities to attract a clientele with larger spending ability
"Good location. Service lacking "
Hotel is in a great location right at the Inner Harbor and in walking distance many restaurants and shopping places. Front desk staff and bellmen attentive. The bar staff were another story. First, on Wednesday nite, the smell at the bar was horrible- like someone cleaned with dirty water. The floor was all Sticky. The bartenders acted like they were doing me a favor with providing drinks. Not very attentive or pleasant. Lobby/bar Restrooms require room key to use - that's a hassle for me -/. Room was clean but need a tech upgrade. Alarm clock had old Apple port. No USB ports anywhere. I'd probably look for another place
