Tucked within the heart of the Nation's Capital. Dupont Circle became a hub of commerce and home to embassies based on city plans created by George Washington and his architect friend, Pierre Charles L'Enfant. Dupont Circle has remained an integral part of DC to this day.
"Service and Staff make all the difference in this property."
Top 5 things that you need to know about this Hotel (in no particular order): 1) Location is convenient to so many areas (airports, the Wharf, and so much more 2) Service, Staff, feeling really welcomed and appreciated. This was at the door, front desk, navigator desk, restaurant/bar, housekeeping. Wow. This is what put this Hotel at a 5! 3) Special Treats: The pulled pork quesadilla's and the pickles - are made on site and delightful. On the breakfast buffet was Salmon and lots more that we love. 4) Cleanliness. My husband and I travel quite a bit and I am well, picky about cleanliness. There were no challenges in any area of the Hotel - inside or out. 5) Odd comment - do need better signage for the parking entry / exit. Depending on which way you are coming it, it can be confusing and has tight turns.
"Love the location! Rooms are dated though."
My favorite part of this hotel is the location. It's right on the border of Dupont Circle/Foggy Bottom (lower part of Georgetown) and there are a ton of great restaurants, bars and clubs steps away from the hotel. It's in between Dupont Circle metro stop and Foggy Bottom metro stop. You could walk to the National Mall, but it takes a good 20-30 minutes to get to the Mall. It is a quick Uber/Lyft/cab ride though. Everyone is all very friendly. The concierge lounge staff (access with Marriott Platinum status) are particularly warm and friendly. The concierge lounge is open Mon-Friday and depending on how busy the hotel is during the weekend breakfast is available Sat and Sunday. On days that the concierge lounge isn't open I received 2 vouchers for the buffet breakfast in the restaurant. The rooms are fine- not Renaissance caliber though. It's definitely in need of some renovation. The lobby looks great, but the rooms are a bit dated. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious enough (some are obviously smaller than others) but they are a bit on the drab side. The gym is small, but does the trick. I've stayed here many times mainly because of the location but since the Marriott renovation across the street occurred I have stayed at the Marriott Washington Georgetown property and prefer it to the Renaissance.
"Great location, Clean and tidy, friendly staff !"
Location is great, central to everything, if your a keen walker most attractions are within walking distance. Plenty of restaurants and food places nearby. Staff are friendly and welcoming and most go out of there way to make sure you are accommodated. Room is smaller than others, but very comfortable and clean and the shower is spacious and very relaxing . We did not get the King bed that was originally booked, but were given a Queen bed room on the 8th floor with concierge lounge which made it a nice stay. AC worked well and was quiet. Would recommend to friends and family and would stay again if we came back to Washington .
"Good location but housekeeping needs improvement"
Stayed for 10 nights. The following were my observations. A couple of train stations are nearby and there are plenty of cabs and buses around to take you to the tourist sites or anywhere you have to go. George Washington U is next door and Georgetown U is a couple of blocks down the road. So it is in a pretty Ok and safe location. Lots of choices for restaurants and coffee shops in the area. Driveway/ Entrance Doormen were not helpful and welcoming when we arrived. They just watched us (or ignored us) as we struggled to unload our 3 big suitcases from the car trunk (definitely not a good first impression). Good thing Front Desk folks were accomodating, helpful, considerate, and more importantly, cheerful! Though the room and bathroom were comfortable, the layout was a bit of a puzzle. The closet was at the far end of the room (away from the bathroom) and the desk, oddly, does a 180 swivel and gets in the way. I will give a not so satisfactory rating to housekeeping. Though they changed the bed and bath linens daily, they were inconsistent with the basics - cleaned out melted soap in the soap dish just twice during my entire stay, replenishment of Qtips came few and far between, unequal ratio of conditioner vs shampoo (no shampoo but lots of condtioner) and coffee bar would not be restocked daily - there were mornings I would discover I had no coffee, sugar, no coffee cups (yikes). Once I requested for my daily stock of botlled water, the housekeeping guy said he's all out ( oh dear). And dusting of furniture and surface was at random. Oh and there were a couple of pieces of used clothing in the cabinet drawers that were probably left by the previous occupant when we checked in (I requested front desk to take it out). It is definitely not 4 or 5 star hotel and I just wish management would remind housekeeping to do a better job.
"Grossly uncomfortable hotel"
The staff are friendly but the rooms are small and very poorly desgned. The closet is on wall close to bed hard to get to and tight to open doors. The desk is a swing out arm tucked in corner that you need to move to get to closet. Very tight and uncomfortable. The bathroom door is in front of sink so you need to go in and close to get to sink very awkward and inconvenient. There are far better choices nearby at lower or similar rate.
