"Great Centrally Located Place at Good Rates!"
My stays in Macau have usually been in 5 star plus hotels in the more central locations. But in one of my visits, I saw Rio Hotel and liked the simplicity of the lobby. Not bustling with people and frenetic energies! So I this holiday, we booked a family room. It's about 45-50sqm with 2 queen sized beds! Everything is still new since they have renovated. The bathrooms have separated shower and toilets plus a bathtub. The carpets are new also! The rates range from 800 to 1200 HKD. When the staff are Filipinos they are very friendly and helpful. There is a small square in front of it with a few good restaurants. I suggest eating at the 2 Portuguese places. They are in front of each other. The famous Ko Kei Pastry shop is a short walk away and the items are less expensive here than in the malls! Then you can take leisurely walks a short distance to the park (where you can also jog). Walking all the way to the Wynn's Casino is easy and places you in the center of many other gaming houses. I really like the Macau location more than the Taipa or Cotai places (much newer developments). And the rooms I stayed in these areas were smaller and slightly more expensive. I will certainly be back here!
"Posh and luxurious experience"
Very posh hotel, given its price, located conveniently in Macau's old city centre. Rooms are big and spacious, though the casino is a little small. The pool is under renovation when we visited in June. Generally very comfortable if you're just in Macau looking for a place to stay. Do take note that the Rio Spa on the fifth floor is a men only "entertainment" spa.
Would definitely suggest this place. Great amenities, good value for money, accommodating staff. Rooms. The rooms were spacious and everything is in excellent condition. Staff. Very helpful and they even suggested places for tourist to visit which we really appreciated. They also tended to our needs asap. Great value for money!! With how much we paid and the quality of service we received, would highly suggest this place!!
"Top Notch 4 star and affordable!"
Macau is all about 5 star service, so the few 4 star places you stay at will actually treat you in a 5 star way. Centrally located, great ample rooms and fine overall customer service. Well worth it and much cheaper than going 5 star!
"Very comfortable hotel room"
We stayed at the Rio for 4 nights late in May. Our cab driver from the airport did not know where the Rio was - it may have been our accents... so we got dropped off at the Grand Lisboa and walked. Not a big deal because we were only travelling with backpacks. Perhaps try to arrange airport pick-up with the hotel before you arrive in Macau. We were happy with the amenities provided in the room and the cleanliness. In fact, we haven't slept so good in months! We had the buffet breakfast most mornings. It was not included in our rate but it may be for you. Breakfast is decent, nothing to rave about. We often walked over to the Sands hotel to catch the complimentary bus over to the casinos at Cotai. It's a short walk and you pass by the Koi Kei bakery where you can pick up some tasty baked goods. We'd recommend the Rio Hotel for travellers who don't mind walking - of course you can hail a taxi any time.
