"Should have listen to the reviews, not our friend"
The staff is Excellent so it pains me to trash the hotel. Never stay in such a small room. 24 inches between bed and all walls. No place to stand x the entrance way. Light in one corner make passage impossible. (Bed was comfortable). We used the TV as to hang our bathing suits. Not sure if the photos posted for hotel in TA are really the hotel I stayed in x the front and the bar. Bathroom, all glass, including the toilet area (you can ask them to pin a sheet up so you create a little bit of privacy but...) so you get to see everything your partner does. The shower glass is also 6 inches too short to keep water from getting all over the bathroom (trick is to turn head inwards to the wall). The nice thing is you can use its sister hotels gym (5 min. walk) but the sister resort was off limits when we stayed there. I would never recommend this hotel x the staff. The only plus is its right where the water taxi comes so you can get in line easily.
"Overpriced, loud and disappointing "
I have never felt the need to write a hotel review before, but a disappointing stay at Riva Yacht Harbour Hotel has changed that. Our 'deluxe' room was cramped and claustrophobic. There was barely room to walk around the bed and nowhere to unpack suitcases. The floor was dirty, the towels were thin and the room was very poorly lit - there wasn't even a light in the ceiling. But by far the worst part was the incessant noise from the bar/club directly below (owned by the hotel) alongside the noise from drunken revellers walking the corridors in the early hours. The bar featured a live DJ playing loud house music every night, despite having a distinct chilled/lounge feel. I don't think anyone would complain if the music reflected what the bar actually is. When we asked if it was possible to change rooms, we were presented with ear plugs and a suggestion that we should go out and enjoy the party instead. And all this for £300 night. Breakfast was a sorry state of affairs with very few options, luke warm juice and flies hovering around the disappointing fruit selection. By our second morning we were seeking breakfast elsewhere. When it comes down to it, this hotel positions itself as a premier, boutique establishment but it's nothing more than a ridiculously overpriced party hotel that seems to care more about filling seats in their new bar than paying guests.
"Overpriced spoilt my trip to Hvar"
This was the most overpriced hotel in Hvar. You are likely to get better value for money if you stay at the Adriana( part of the hotel group ) The location may appeal to some who are likely to party into the early hours of the morning but if you stay at this hotel expect to sleep after 6 am as drunken partygoers loiter outside the hotel. In addition the room described as deluxe is smaller than most studio apartments and extremely cramped . The bathroom and toilets are awkwardly designed and really not worth the price tag . The location is meaningless if you don't get to enjoy the hotel . The breakfast was really average and I'm sure they slap on a hefty amount for this . In addition our fridge in the room didn't work and we had to request ice buckets daily to chill our waters. This is a bit petty, but there was a half drunk bottle of mineral water in our bar fridge when we checked in. The carpets in the room are dirty, the pillows flatter than the pancakes at breakfast (just kidding, there were no pancakes) and the water leaked out the showers and wet the rest of the bathroom. The riva was marketed as a premier boutique hotel but in my opinion is not worth the price tag. In my opinion, they are capitalizing on the overflow from the rest of their hotel group and desperate last minute travelers like us. Great location when getting off the ferry...staff were amazing...the rest, was average and below.
"Disco despair and micro rooms"
This hotel should provide a disclaimer about the noise from the neighboring bar which they apparently own. The music started up around 10 pm and went until 300 am resulting in little sleep for us despite the use of headphones to try to blunt the sound. We stayed in rooms 109 and 111 and while the views were wonderful nothing else about the hotel was. The rooms are poorly lit, small, the bathrooms have no privacy and the towels so thin to as not absorb.
"At least the air conditioning worked"
If you want a cramped (I mean bumping into the TV and nowhere to move), dark and noisy room where you need earplugs if you want to sleep before 2:00 a.m., this is the place. Situated on the harbor, the Riva has an ultra-cool Euro vibe. The staff are great -- very helpful, the BB Cafe downstairs is actually good and reasonably priced (for Hvar). But the morning OJ is warm, the American coffee is weak, the breakfast room is hot, and there are fruit flies around the fresh fruit. The beds are good to sleep on and the air conditioning worked well. Caveat emptor.
