Our stay here was disappointing and not due to the noise (which if you read any TA reviews should be expected). The location is fabulous if you want to be in the centre of the bars and nightlife or just want to people watch. Breakfast was average as there was not enough fruit served although there were a good selection of cereals. The disappointment came in our superior sea view room. TINY! TINY and terrible design. Barely one person could fit in the open concept bathroom with no door and a clear glass enclosed toilet. Our shower leaked so badly that we had to phone for extra towels to mop it up. Shower had no shelf for toiletries and had black mould on the ceiling. The bedroom was so small there was barely a foot on 3 sides of the bed with no where to put 1 suitcase let alone 2. When one case was opened, you could only shuffle in one direction around the bed. We peeked in at the rooms without a sea view and they looked larger.
"Location location locatoon"
Stayed for a week in June, were very strict on check in times but allowed luggage storage and it was in our room when we were allowed in. Room small, and very dimly lit, but you don't go on holiday to Hvar to spend much time in your room! Breakfast is good with plenty of choice and it is nice to be able to enjoy it on the bustling harbour. Noise was a slight issue but after reading other reviews it wasn't worse than expected. It was a bonus to be able to access facilities at other group hotels especially as this hotel has no pool. Overall a pleasurable experience, staff friendly if a little strict but as the title suggests is all about the location.
"DO NOT STAY HERE"
Unless you love techno music at all hours if the night. And not down the street like the other reviews state. Nope directly outside your window. Yes and their staff could careless. Way too expensive for this.
"Some good, some bad"
First of all let me say that the Riva is in a brilliant location & the staff are excellent. But it's trying too hard to be 'boutiquey' over being practical. Our supposed 'superior' room was at the back of the hotel right next to the stairs/lifts and looked onto a brick wall 3m away. The rooms are tiny & very dark with bad lighting not helped by dark red walls. There is hardly any space to put anything and no room to move around. Our friend had a room at the front with a balcony overlooking the harbour on the 2nd floor, which was a fantastic view, but the music right outside at the weekend doesn't finish til 2am & there are people staggering in at all hours from the clubs in town. Breakfast was excellent sitting on the terrace at the front of the hotel & they offered a free glass of wine late afternoon. Very convenient as well as it's is literally 50m from where the ferry arrives. So there you have it... more bad than good in my opinion, but Hvar is a brilliant place for a holiday.
"Weird and small"
I DO NOT recommend this hotel! The rooms are oddly arranged and the bathroom has no door!! There is no mirror over the (very small) bathroom sink. With every light turned on we still had to use a flashlight to walk around the room. The location is great and the staff were friendly and helpful.
