The five stars is for how relaxed I felt at this resort. If you want relaxed and beautiful surroundings then Sala Samui is the place to go. Our Pool Villa was beautiful. I particularly loved the bathroom, bed and pool. Staff were professional and polite. The only criticism - there was work being carried out at the villa next to us so there was plenty of noise at times but we appreciate that low season is the best time to get repairs done so understandable. Was sorry to leave.....
"Not as anticipated"
I was very impressed with the booking process and the efficiency and speed of response I was even gratified when I received a warning that one of the tow public pools was under renovation. Sadly that was only half the tale. Work seemed to have stopped on the pool in favour of tearing out all the fittings in the spa. Nobody bothered to warn me of this and the noise was intrusive to say the least. Each time we would sit out at the private pool area the drilling banging and general noise was unacceptable. The knock on was also that the spa services were carried out in one of the two story villas and it was freezing on both occasions. The spa treatments were good. The check in is a bit uninspiring as someone else has said. But to their credit the airport pickup was efficient and the room was ready before check in time. The villa was a little cramped and the fixtures and fittings have all seen better days. The outside bathroom looked particularly knocked about. The control to switch from hand held to rain shower leaked and was hanging on by a thread. The breakfast was good and the mix of buffet and a la carte was a nice idea. I ordered the champagne breakfast as a special surprise. It wasnt special in any way shape or form. I asked on check in and later that day what we were supposed to do for out 8.30 breakfast. I was told just go to the breakfast area. I did to find someone walking out carrying my breakfast. I asked where are they taking it and was told - to your villa. Nice but there is nowhere to sit. This was met with- yes thats right. So we elected to stay in the restaurant. This was an uninspiring experience. First we were plonked amidst crying kids and gawping onlookers who had clearly never seen a bottle of champagne before. After asking twice the waiter (male) eventually opened the bottle and made the first clumsy attempts to pour, neither he nor anyone else returned to pour again. The cooking lesson was interesting and well done. The on beach tent dining was nice and the food was mostly good. The Chef, Davide came and asked us how it was which was nice. The two girls serving were attentive without being intrusive. They went to the trouble of asking before hand what type of pillow we both wanted I would have been nice had I been told which I got as neither seemed to fit the bill. Ditto with handmade soap. This was a mushy mess inside 1 day as shower drenched it and soap dish didnt drain. Not cheap but didnt give that luxury feeling I expected or have had before. The staff by and large were friendly and we witnessed English lessons taking place. The venue needs a massive refurbishment to bring it up to scratch.
"Greatest time in Sala Samui"
First of all, my wife and I would like to thank you every single staff that we’ve encounter. The attitude and services from the staff are very kind, and very efficient. The flow of the entire trip was very fluent, if you have any request for your stay, you have to contact them in advance. Because I arrived Samui at around 8PM so I booked a pickup from the airport, and ordered dinner in advance. Once we had our welcome drink and check-in was settled, the lady took us to our villa and food was already ready(and the food were still warm). The breakfasts and dinner in the resort were also super good in Sala Samui so don’t miss out! The only flaw that I want to point out is that I have booked the Sala villa for the first two nights and the one-bedroom villa for the last two nights. To be quite honest, even though the price for the one-bedroom is more expensive , and also about 70m2 larger than the Sala villa, (I originally expected that the experience at the one bedroom will be better than the Sala villa), my wife and I found that we liked the Sala villa more because of the overall design and atmoshpere. Yes, the Sala villa is so much smaller than the one bedroom, but every single bit of the room just make the entire atmosphere so much better, it’s like every single piece of furniture and decoration were perfectly set and were meant to be there. It was just soooo good! But then after we moved to the one bedroom, it kind of feel a little bit empty and it was not as good looking as the Sala villa. Moreover, I’m not sure if it’s the construction at the black pool, it was a bit noisy from my villa, just a little bit. To conclude, my wife and I had one of the greatest time in Samui, and Sala Samui resort made that happen. Thank you Sala! We will come again.
"Sala is an absolute 5-star Resort!"
Sala Resort was amazing and is in a perfect location!! Close to Fisherman's Wharf (markets are on Monday and Friday nights) as well as being close to busier Chaweng (restaurants and shopping). From the welcome letter, the decorated bed, roses, chocolates and champagne on arrival for our 35th Wedding Anniversary, we could tell that this resort was going to be extra special. The staff absolutely make this resort (particularly Amanda, she is so lovely) everyone so friendly and always going out of their way to smile, say hello and have time for a chat with us. We also loved talking to Davide the Head Chef. Sala delivers personal service and nothing was ever a problem! Our Pool Villa was fantastic, always clean with plenty of fresh fluffy towels. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a one bedroom Pool Villa Suite, which was as far away from the demolition noise that was going on next door to the resort, which was greatly appreciated. The resort told us that the noise would stop at the beginning of November. We loved the outdoor bathroom and the huge bed was extremely comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the compilmentary sparkling wine with breakfast as well as the morning daily yoga sessions. The beach was lovely and not crowded, and we really appreciated the ice cold drinks of water that were given to us while we were sunbaking. We also took advantage of the 50% off massages and they were absolutely beautiful and worth paying more than other massages elsewhere. Unfortunately the lap pool was being renovated during our stay, however we were notified about this beforehand and used the other wonderful resort pool. We were given a late check-out and were impressed that reception even rang ouro ther resort for us to see if our villa was ready, which it wasn't. Thank you so much to everyone at Sala for making our Anniversary so memorable and for making us feel so special. It's a truely gorgeous resort and hopefully we will be back next year with our family.
"Long awaited Honeymoon"
My wife and I enjoyed SALA Samui very much. Let's talk about the check-in. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, they checked us in pretty quickly. We booked a garden pool villa and we were quite impressed. The staff decorated the bed with rose petals for us (its our honeymoon) and they were amazing. Gorgeous pool and I would say they pay attention to details. My wife and I decided to head for the spa and massage. Even though it is a tad more expensive but it was good. They have 50% discount from 3-5pm so if you are on a budget you can consider that. We enjoyed the breakfast every morning. Delicious spread and yummy Thai food as well. In the evening, the staff will do turndown service and light up the mosquito coil due to the outdoor bathing area. Something that we are very happy with. The location is something that cannot be controlled, it is situated away from the city center thus if you want to head to the city, you will need to either rent a bike or take the expensive cab. There is no meter cab in Samui because you have to negotiate the price like a tuk tuk but the prices are more ridiculous than the tuk tuk. So beware if you want to take the cab. If you just want to enjoy your honeymoon and rest/relax then Sala Samui is def the place to stay.
