"One of the best hotels we've ever stayed in!"
We originally booked 4 nights at the Drury Inn & Suites Riverwalk. After the first night, my husband hated the noise from the hallways and downtown and I hated the mattress and pillows. We decided to move to the Marriott Rivercenter for the following 3 nights. Best decision ever!!! The Marriott Rivercenter is ideally located on the Riverwalk... but the bonus comes from its attachment to the Rivercenter Mall. From lobby level where the front desk is located, just head to the left of the front desk, out the doors and you are instantly in the Mall. The first store on your right is even a drug store where you can get toiletries and snacks you may need for your vacation. You have full access to the Mall food court which is great for a quick and easy meal. Want to visit the Alamo or any of the fun places located across from the Alamo (like Ripley's or Pat O'Brien's piano bar)' Follow the Mall hallways to the end and you've made most of your walk to those venues in air conditioning! Huge benefit since San Antonio temperatures can reach the 100s. You'll also find restaurants right outside the hotel doors. Across the street from the hotel's front door is Denny's. If you exit the hotel's back door (turn left from the front desk and instead of entering the Mall on lobby level, go down one level and outside to the Riverwalk), you'll find a Mexican restaurant, an Italian restaurant, a steakhouse, Margaritaville, Hooters, Chili's, and Ghirardelli all within 50 yards or less. A boarding station for the Riverwalk boats is also located right outside of the hotel's back doors. It's the perfect place to hop on a boat for one of the famous Riverwalk boat tours. The Marriott itself is very nice and well kept. We had a room on the 28th floor (I believe the top level is 38) and we didn't hear any downtown noise other than the occasional siren. We found the bed and pillows to be very comfortable. The only cons we found were no mini fridge in the room and the parking price was a bit high ($37 per night for self parking or $42 per night for valet parking). But the pros of this hotel definitely outweigh these cons and I highly recommend staying here!
Love the hotel its in a great spot, and they are very nice and profecional, the only thing I didn't like its the 40 dlls self park for over night stay. But the location its perfect, right on the mall its just over all great, just if it wasn't for charging so much to self park.
"Great hotel on the river walk!"
We were in town for the Pitbull/Enrique Iglesias concert at the ATT Center. This was my first time here at this hotel, and received a fairly nice discount on Expedia. It is a beautiful hotel, with clean and spacious rooms. One entrance of the hotel leads you directly to the River Walk and mall. Staff was very nice, and breakfast was included in our package, and that too, was delicious. Only 2 cons, the valet parking fee is outrageous, when there is a public parking garage across the street, offering parking at $10. Second, checkout is at 11 a.m. and there were only 2 people at the front desk. The morning I checked out, I happened to be behind another customer who was obviously having problems with his checkout, and the line began to form. Not once did the front desk girl acknowledge any of us in line who had been waiting at least 10-15minutes, before a 3rd person came out to help with the line. Person #2 had his own line and that was VIP or diamond, or whatever special line that was. Overall, the Marriott River Center was great for a weekend stay!
As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, we chose this Marriott and was totally satisfied with our stay. The staff was courteous, genuinely caring and always helpful. Particularly helpful was "J. D" in concierge. Not only did he arrange to have a bouquet of Roses delivered to our room, he made special dinner arrangements at The Chart House atop the 750 foot Tower of the Americas. He also gave us a bottle of sparkling wine as a gift. The front desk also upgraded us to a "Kink Suite".
"Not the best"
This hotel is in a great location. There is a shopping mall right there, tons of places to eat. The A/C was out in our room - the hotel didn't offer us another room didn't comp the night or anything. The rooms aren't very nice for the prices they charge. The parking garage was really pricey at $42/night.
