We had the most wonderful vacation here. The staff was wonderful they treated us like family. But I do have to say our bartenders Larone and Kayon were awesome they knew what we wanted to drink before we got to the bar. One of the waiters Calvin was outstanding, he knew we needed something before we knew it. And the activities coordinator Ramon did an excellent job, he kept us entertained. All I have to say there was nothing missing from our vacation. We will be definitely coming back. The best place to eat for us was Tokyo Joe's.
The employee who brought our bags to the resort shuttle from the airport stood in front of the bus door until we gave him a tip which was very awkward. It's also hard to just sit on the beach or by the pool without being asked 10 times if you want to buy something or go on an excursion or book your next trip. The vendors on the property that sell jewelry and bags also will stop you and pretty much force you to buy something. They will make you feel bad if you don't. Most of the employees were very friendly and helpful. Others, however, seemed annoyed that you were trying to ask them a question and then were very vague with their answer. Very hard to understand employees sometimes as they tend to talk very fast and quietly. Check in was fairly disorganized and they had us sitting in a waiting room not knowing what to do for quite some time. They were good about making sure my wife ate gluten free food which was nice. Wifi was spotty and sometimes had no signal in our room at all. Food was great but not the best I've ever had. All in all it was a great vacation.
My husband and I just got back from our 10 day honeymoon at Sandals, Montego Bay. We had a wonderful time! The service there really is exceptional. We'd like to acknowledge one of the waiters there, Peter, who serves at two of the better restaurants and who we had the pleasure of seeing twice. He, out of everyone (don't get us wrong, the whole staff was wonderful), went above and beyond what was expected. We've also got to give it up to the entertainment staff! We'd highly recommend this resort to any of our friends. Great food, wonderful service, clear warm water and so much fun! Go, go, go!
"Late summer get away!"
We were at Sandals Montego Bay Sept.13-19, 2017. This was our 4th Sandals trip, our first time to Montego Bay. We chose this location because the trip from the airport would be quick. I read from the reviews that the planes would fly very close and be very loud, that was true, but expected, not an issue for us. The airport hospitality room was not very friendly. Only beer and sodas, no snacks. I saw champagne being offered to some but when I inquired the lady said she didn't have anymore that was chilled. The fridge was full of champagne bottles. We choose to stay in the "cheap rooms", the Caribbean Deluxe. We always stay in the "cheap rooms" because they are usually good and have garden views. We are usually not in the room much anyway. I inquired about the condition of the rooms on a chat on the website and was told that they all had been recently refurbished. When we checked in we were taken to room 1468. It had not been refurbished in a long while. It was large and sufficient and would not have been a problem but we had a long walk through a huge construction zone. Plywood walk-ways and plywood walls, noisy machinery and hammering. Our curtains had to be kept closed at all times because they were always out working, sometimes til very late), directly on the level of our windows. The balcony was not useable because of the construction activity and constant noise and men right outside. I tried to ignore it and look the other way, but I just couldn't. I went to the front desk and expressed our concerns, but I was told there was not a room that we could move to. There were not many people staying there at that time. Never many people in pools, restaurant or at the beach. The next day I was approached by Carla, a Sandals Select represented, I told her about our issue. She amazingly had us moved into a beautiful, peaceful room, free of the construction zone. She saved our vacation! Thank you so much Carla! I feel like Sandals should have made it clear before we reserved our room that it was in the construction zone. Actually, they should have closed those rooms until that area was finished. I think that was so dishonest of them. Why put your costumers in a situation where they are unhappy and have to be lucky enough to complain to the right person before something is done. I have some interesting videos if someone would like to see our view from the balcony of room 1468. Food was good, beach was great! Two small pools for a resort that size was a little sad. We did two dives a day the whole time we were there. Dives were good. Dive crew was a little up tight and grouchy at times, but by the end of the week they seem to be lightening up a bit.
"Fine Dining experiences"
We wanted to bring to attention the Manager of the Oleander Room, Mr. Andre. We have the pleasure on several trips to watch this gentleman grow into possibly the best Dining Manger that we have the pleasure dining with on our trips to Sandals Montego Bay, and there have been quite a few in the past years. Andre excels at making sure that he and his staff present a Caribbean Dining experience with each visit. Andre is truly a rising star amongst the many fine associates of Sandals. We encourage you to visit Andre and his staff if you stay at the Sandals Montego Bay you will not be disappointed.
