"Don't Stay Here"
I have to agree with one of the previous comments that this is the worst accommodation that I have stayed in Sydney and way too overpriced. They said that we were upgraded from Deluxe to Grand Deluxe, mmmmmm I would love to see what the Deluxe was like in comparison. I will admit that the apartment was large but very dated, looked and felt grubby, only the basic essentials (one roll of toilet paper, 1 hotel size soap) towels were thin. The heating was non existent although it says that it is centrally heating & cooling. The control is only set on one temperature and cannot be changed, also cant change from cool to heat. Our room was cold, had to ask reception to bring a blanket (none on bed or in wardrobe). The following morning I complained about the heating and they gave me a fan heater for the room. What a surprise they opened the room to get a heater and it was FULL of small fan heaters. Upon check in they it is mandatory hotel policy to take $100 deposit and this will be refunded if there no claim. Well this $100 has still not been put back into my account a week after they took it. I phoned and they said that because I used a debit card it takes longer, however I explained they would not let me check in without paying so therefore it should be refunded straight away. This needs to be made more transparent upon check in. I would have used a different card in that case. I would also like to add that this hotel was not cheap but on top of that they charge $40 per night parking, in their own carpark! I complained about that and they said that Wilsons carpark would have been more expensive and that their parking fee was cheap in comparison
"Avoid this Hotel at all costs!"
Though I would try this hotel during my latest business trip to Sydney as it was close to the office - big mistake. Where to start.....extremely dated room, same level as a hotel I once stayed at in rural southwest China..Mold and mildew in the shower, in desperate need of a renovation - I will say the carpet looked fairly new. But, worst of all, the air conditioner was not working - had the feeling this was a know problem when I first called the reception desk and got confirmation later when I was told they couldn't move me to another room because they were sold out. The only compensation offered by the duty manager was a bottle of water from the mini-bar, laughable. Front desk staff was apologetic. Again, avoid this place!
"Great location for Darling Harbour"
I booked a wheelchair accessible room and a regular room. I have a tiny electric wheelchair and I am a good driver and I had to drive really slowly to negotiate the 'dog leg' turn to get into the door of my room. Once inside it was spacious (enough to turn a wheelchair but not move around too much) and well laid out. The bathroom was huge and I liked the moveable trolley which had the toiletries stored on it. Good idea! The mirror was actually above the sink and you could actually see yourself (most accessible bathrooms don't account for a wheelchair user being able to see themselves in the mirror as too high). A strange black strip on the shower floor to prevent water from flowing across the floor -good idea, but dangerous as it was broken on the edge and you could slice open your foot. Plenty of tea and coffee supplied which was fantastic and a good sized mini fridge. Air conditioning worked really well. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is dated but clean and comfortable and would definitely stay again. The foot bridge to DH does have an elevator but it was undergoing maintenance. We went up the steep footpath and turned left into Darling Park building. The concierge directed us to an elevator with an enclosed foot bridge which brings you out to the Lindt Cafe in DH. Worked well for us.
"Seriously Low Standard"
Without a doubt, probably the worst accommodation I have booked in Sydney. Don’t be fooled by the designer reception, after stepping out the elevator onto your floor, you will step back in time to the late 1980’s décor. The room was aged and worn, the sofa was so dirty that I could not stay in the room and asked to be moved. They moved me to the executive suite, which was cleaner than the first room but to the same poor room standard. To sum up: Value for money 0 out of 10 Cleanliness 1 out of 10 Room standard 1 out of 10 Stay clear of this place, there is nothing positive to say and the owners and operators should be ashamed to operate a business this way. I feel sorry for the reception staff, they must be desperate for work.
Five night business trip Hotel close to City and Darling Harbour Very helpful front desk staff as they attended to a logistics concern very promptly Moths in room Bugs in room Dooner cover dirty Mould in bathroom Mould in kitchenette Significant road noise Smell of stale Asian food cooking permeated across floor when exiting lift and lingered in room for entire visit. Smell could not be removed and remained sickly every night/day Couldn't watch TV from bed Company corporate travel agent will be advised with critical feedback to be provided. Poor value, poor quality and never again
