Stayed here with another couple . The service was amazing quick checkin and looked after out bags as we arrived early and only had the day to see Hiroshima . When we arrived back late that afternoon the bags were in our rooms . Went to there buffet dinner that night and the food was excellent a good mix of Japanese and western. The rooms are very spacious clean and modern. If you go to Hiroshima and you must don’t look any where else , 5 stars .
"Very average hotel - expected more "
I would not consider this a 5 star hotel. I travel a great deal and this is distinctly average. 1. Poor quality welcome / check in - no personal feeling welcome or indeed recognition of our SPG status at all, something we have received from every other hotel we have stayed in Japan 2. Poor rooms - room tired - stains on carpet, and the bathroom design is beyond awful. Bathroom is basically in the bedroom screened only by a sink. The toilet has a glass door that doesn’t close properly so no visual or noise privacy at all. 3. Old bed - the most uncomfortable sleep. Strange bedding too - double duvet type with a sheet underneath rather than a duvet cover. 4. Poor common areas - no bar area; and the restaurant looks more like a canteen with bright lights and limited seating - certainly not a 5 star relaxing evening space. Plus point is is next to the station and the bedroom is at least spacious.
We had a fantastic three-night stay in the Sheraton as part of our honeymoon. The first plus is how easy it is to find. If you come through the Shinkansen gate, exit the station on the left side and then turn right - the hotel is right in front of you. The Sheraton exudes luxury as you go through the sofa-clad bar on the lobby floor. Upon check-in, we were handed a little bouquet of flowers and led up to the 19th floor. Our room was enormous, with a huge comfy bed and a large window to observe the great view, albeit somewhat impeded by the Hotel Granvia. Our honeymoon gift was a pair of flannels, which was a bit unusual but I could actually do with a flannel so we'll put this down as a positive. Being so close to the station makes the city very accessible. You can easily hop on a bus (many of which are free with a JR pass) to the main tourist attractions, or a train towards unmissable Miyajima. We did not eat at the hotel restaurants but we did try out the executive lounge. This was not included in our room but it is possible to pay for a single night which costs 5000 yen each (around £35 each). This grants you a breakfast along with free tea, coffee and snacks (and wine!) throughout the day and best of all a happy hour between 5pm-8pm where you can help yourself to unlimited hot food, snacks and alcoholic drinks. This turned out to be an absolute bargain and is a great idea for a single night, spending your other nights in the city. For some reason we were strongly discouraged from paying for this on the assumption it would be "very busy" but there was never more than a handful of people in there and we had great seats by the window. The only negatives I could say about the hotel is that the happy hour in the hotel bar is excessively overpriced - 1000 yen (£7) for 40cl of beer during a happy hour is madness. Also I used the gym but they don't have any bottled water so I had to run with a cup since I couldn't be bothered going back to my room to get a bottle. Predictably I spilled most of it down myself. It's still a really well-equipped gym, just bring your own bottle. However, I would not hesitate to strongly recommend the Sheraton. With excellent room sizes, location and amenities this is surely the pick of the bunch in Hiroshima.
We stayed here for 4 nights in Room 1502 which was a Deluxe Corner Room with King Bed.The room itself was very large with a small entrance hall, desk, seating area and an enormous bathroom! We never felt cramped as there was plenty of storage space etc The bed was super comfy and the view from the room was excellent. We had a few days of rain when we were there and we felt really cossetted away in this great room. The hotel is in an excellent location for using all forms of transport, particularly the trains, and is accessed via a covered walkway from the station. We really enjoy walking and the Peace Park etc is an easy 30 minute walk from the hotel. We discovered some great covered shopping streets on the way. Everything is easily accessed on foot. We didn't eat at the hotel. We discovered a great selection of restaurants on Level 2 in the Asse building which is part of the complex adjacent to the train station. It isn't a food court but a whole floor of excellent restaurants frequented by locals as well as tourists. There is also an incredible supermarket on the ground floor which was great for buying snacks and drinks. All the staff we encountered at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming.
Sheraton appears to have reclaimed their mantle as a great place to stay. Our room was flawless and very comfortable. Internet was fast and easy to start. Tv has cnn as well as bbc. Bathroom was fine. Housekeeping flawless. I was impressed. Check out the shampoo dispenser
