"First time in luxor"
We stayed at the Achti for 1 week 9 th to 16 th Nov , first impression the check in went very smoothly , room was clean although looking a little tired ( you could see in its hay day it would have been a very impressive room) the bed ,pillows were most comfortable the linen soft and clean ,towels again quite old and ruff but clean & changed everyday without fail , we didnt use the a/ c so can't comment, the room cleaner was friendly spoke to us every morning asking if everything was ok , we had a Nile view which was fabulous sitting on the balcony with g/ t watching the sun go down , breakfast was ok , the waiters were outstanding again making sure we were happy plenty of coffee lots of smiles and nothing too much trouble ,my husband had a sore throat they made him lemon honey drink , pool area again a little tired but sun bed cleaned every morning ,pool guy always making sure that you had plenty of shade has the sun moved ,plenty of sun towels and very clean as was the pool , lunch time we eat may be 5 times good choice of snacks staff again brilliant, we ate at the Indian and Italian at night good food but it was a shame not a lot of guests , we didn't use the tours from the hotel a little expensive we found a nice taxi driver Ali who looked after us all week he his just out side the hotel , he saved us quite a bit of money on the trips he was always on time lovely man . would we use the hotel again at first thought no because of the rooms looking quite old but now I would say yes after all as long has it's clean , comfy bed ,wonderful views, good service ,after all Egypt has been though some ruff times over the years and it depends on tourism for money so can't expect the hotel to have money on refurbishments let's hope people will return and the hotel can be once again be grand . We will stay here again it's a little way out but for us it was better not so much hassle outside as it is down town
"amazing view of Nile River from room"
This hotel was absolutely fantastic. The room had a view overlooking the Nile River and the Valley of the Kings. Room was clean and comfortable. Wifi was ok, but on par with other Egyptian hotels. Restaurant had decent food, but expensive compared to visiting a local restaurant in town. The hotel is a bit away from the centre of town, too far to walk, but to be honest, you don't want to be walking around Luxor on your own without a guide anyway, as you will get hassled by just about everyone looking to show you around to make a buck or two. Hotel was quiet. I would definitely stay here again.
We were upgraded to Nile view room upon the request from our tour guide. The check in took a bit longer due to the last minute upgrade. The restaurant staff is helpful. They also have a small bazaar in the hotel and also an Indian restaurant which only opens for dinner. Great food at the Indian restaurant.
"Good resort...consider staying here"
Most of the resort seemed empty. Barring some confusion in the restaurant initially, the stay was almost perfect, albeit short. We ate at the Indian food place, Agra, which had decent food. The Swimming pool was nice, and it was topped up by a felucca ride (we paid 100Le for it)
"EX SHERATON WATERFRONT"
This hotel has the ideal site & view overlooking the Nile toward the hills with the Valley of the Kings. It's not the romantic Agatha Christie sort of hotel but it's as good as it gets at modest prices following the devaluation of the local pound. The bedroom bed is perfect, dressing a touch dated , bathroom ditto. Restaurant has a superb terrace area with fans & a truly wonderful view over the Nile. Pool area as good as you would wish near to boats if you wish an evening trip to enjoy the Nile evening colours.
