"Tired hotel & a lack of attention to detail"
It’s difficult to find the positives in this tired looking hotel. The meeting rooms and guest rooms were damp, with an awful musty smell - they can’t have been good for our health. The food was good but the service elsewhere was lacking - meeting room toilets were not well serviced, room servicing was not consistent, and there Sheraton Roma Hotel is about 25mins (20 euros UBER, 30-40mins Wall+Metro) from the heart of Rome. The metro is a 10min walk along a busy road (with a limited footpath). Reception would benefit from reading the reviews of the restaurant they recommend - it’s not a good one! And from having some running maps for guests that avoid having to run on a busy road.
"Great stay with pool close to Rome city center!"
We (3 adults and 2 girls 9&11 years old) stayed here in the presidential suite, with an additional connecting room, meaning we had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, dining area and living room with sofa bed. Everything was great and we checked-in in the club lounge. As we had premium rooms we had access to the club lounge, which was great, there was wine, beer, coffee and snacks available throughout the day. 2 evenings we had room service dinner, delivery was fast and food very tasty! Another good thing was that the shuttle bus was free, which we used extensively, at least 4 times per day going to and from the city center. Staff was very friendly and attentive. 3 small things on the negative side were; 1. Check your bill!!! There were many errors and additions to ours which were stricken when pointed out. 2. The pool area is free, but one needs to pay for sun chairs even if you are guest in the hotel. This is the first time, ever (having travelled a lot) that we have seen this. Even if considering the quirks, we would still recommend this establishment as we think it was very good value for money.
"Favorite Option for Rome Business Travel"
I come to Rome a few times a year for business in Ostia. I always stay at this hotel due to the convenient transportation into the city (regular shuttle and only 20 Euros for a taxi), the great Club Lounge, spacious rooms, reasonably-priced bar and restaurant, and great pool. However, my biggest complaint is also the pool - you have to pay to use a sun lounger (even when I stayed in the Presidential Suite with my family this summer) and the process is chaotic, awkward, inconvenient, and full of frustration - it’s not just the price that will annoy you. Sheraton really needs to do away with this system, or allow people to just sign the charge to their room at the loungers, every time I experience it, I contemplate taking my business to another location.
"LOTS OF MIX REVIEWS FOR THIS HOTEL, BUT I AM STILL RATING IT HIGH"
I notice a lot of mixed and bad reviews. i just stayed here for the 3rd year in a row, and it was perfectly fine. yes, the check in service is what it is, got to remember we are in Italy and most of the service personal have a slight attitude anyway. however, we got Alex at check in and he was a dream come true. took care of us with sweetness and love, which is what I expect. the breakfast was very good, however, get down early as they tend to run out of some foods early. and yes, make sure they don't take your plates away before your finished. coffee in machines does not come out hot, repeatedly tell them this, but to no avail. towards the back of room, their is a nice women making fresh cappuccinos and lattes, go there and get a very good and hot coffee. room cleaning is always excellent, we did not get a chance to use the shuttle, but as I remember always on time. could use some more times on arrivals for shuttles from airport, but this is limited. all in all, will def stay here again, and it is out of town, which to me is good to be quiet and away from the hustle of roma.
"35 Minutes to Check-In"
Second time I've stayed it this hotel, it might be the last. Firstly good service from the staff, very helpful. Room service also. Secondly the room was tired (see other comments). Shower head not able to stay upright, air conditioning not working. Bed was comfortable though. Last time I stayed the room didn't have these sorts of issues. Lastly, and here's the real killer - the length of time to check-in. There was already a queue when I got there, presumably from a conference group. But taking over 5 mins per person is awful these days. You are asked to read lots of T's and C's in small print and respond to them. If anyone actually read them it would have doubled the wait time. The queue was longer when I finally got checked in. I would have thought that for a Hotel and Conference Centre they would have this sorted. I will visiting Rome again in a couple of weeks. Which hotel to use though'
